FASHION INFLUX IN 2013

This year has been pretty crazy. I think that's the scariest/best part about life.. you literally have no idea how things will be in a weeks time, never mind a year. If you'd told me last year the things I'd be doing this year I'd have told you to shut the front door. I'm not saying there hasn't been plenty of bad parts thrown in too, but on a whole I'm pretty proud of what I've done this year. Philosophical/soppy moment over!

So on with a little round up. After three, quite grim years of tears & upset I finally graduated. PRAISE THE LORD. Ha. In July I went to New York thanks to Boohoo & had the best week of my life so far. I still can't believe that I went, it's something I doubt me & my ma would ever have been able to afford & we still sit there saying to each other 'can you believe we went?!'. My highlight of the colder months has to be heading to the Cosmo Blog Awards & getting Highly Commended Best New Fashion Blog. I still feel like I'm a complete dork when it comes to this blogging lark so that made my year/life!

Are any of you making resolutions for 2014? I'm just going to try compliment people more. So many times I think to myself 'oooh she looks nice' or 'I love her shoes' & really, why did I not just tell that person?! If someone made my day like that it'd definitely put a smile on my face.

MONOCHROME & FLOPPY HAT

Hat - Boohoo, Jumper - c/o Glamorous, Coat - H&M, Trousers - H&M, Boots - Boohoo

So off goes Christmas for another year, and back Lydia comes in her favourite black & white outfits. Some things never change! I'm feeling 'cutesied' out with all these traditional Christmas outfits so I'm glad to be back in something simple and smart. Bye bye novelty Christmas jumpers, I'll see you again next year.

This is the second winter I've been wearing these H&M pleather trousers to death. As a £7 find in the H&M sale I'm quite loyal to them covering my leather trouser needs while I couldn't afford to buy some fancy ones. They fit really nice (providing I stop eating quite so many mince pies.. one with every cup of tea right?!) and they're actually a lot comfier than I'd imagine. The fact that I've even bothered to shimmy into them three days after Christmas is proof of that.. I have contemplated staying in a onesie forever. Ha.

My hat is one I picked up for the summer, only I've ended up wearing it much more over winter. It saves you from a wind/rain induced hair disaster but means I don't have to spend all my life with a beanie pulled down over my ears. Not always a great look.

COSY BOXING DAY

Onesie - Accessorize

Firstly, how did Christmas go?! I hope you all had the most lovely of days surrounded by loved ones, presents & pigs in blankets.. Apologies to any vegetarians out there but my days they are a treat!

With the big day itself over, I always think that Boxing Day is time to be spent in PJs, recovering from a food coma whilst watching a good film. Unfortunately for me, I'll be back to work helping out you hardcore sales shoppers! I don't really mind, I know there are plenty of people out there who have worked throughout Christmas (big up to our nurses, doctors, servicemen etc!) and that's a good reality check for me moaning about missing out on a duvet day. The moment I get in I'll be jumping in a onesie like the one above (is it wrong to have at least 5 one pieces?!) and heading straight for those turkey sarnies. This slouchy number I've got on is beyond comfy and means you can ignore the food baby for a little bit longer.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ear Muffs - Accessorize, Coat - Monsoon, Turtle Neck - H&M, Boots - Topshop, Jewellery - Accessorize, Merry Christmas Banner - Accessorize

I'm going to keep this short & sweet because I'd hope by now that you're all busy eating mince pies & doing all things festive.. bring on the food coma eh?! I'd saved this post especially for Christmas Eve, as I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas before the jolly shenanigans begin. I'm wrapped up for a winter's walk I went on recently, and thought this outfit would be perfect for any of us that may attempt walking off all those turkey sarnies. I think I'll prefer snuggling up to watch Downton with a tin of Celebrations.

Anyway, I'll stop myself rambling. Hope you all have a completely lovely Christmas. I cannot wait to make the most of family, yummy food & a bit of chill time. Lots of Crimble love to you all! xxx

FEELING FESTIVE OOTD

Shirt - Charity Shop, Jumper - Primark, Ring - Pandora

Yep, I know. Another Christmas jumper.. I'm over killing it aren't I? Oh what they hell, it only comes round once a year & then I'll be back in everything high waisted, crop tops & beanie hats. Typical Lydia outfit.

This jumper is quite similar to the one I had in yesterday's post.. so much so that I did have to look twice to make sure it wasn't the same. This one here is one of the extra tacky ones from Primark that I think many of us around the country will have gone out & purchased. Primark is officially number one for the novelty jumper.. it has a knitted carrot nose FGS, what more could you want?!

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve. Definitely taking this too far!

TWO FESTIVE OUTFITS

*All outfit details in video :)*

Right, seen as I've managed to have a total organisation flop, I've decided I'm going to blog for the next three days to fit in all the Christmassy shindigs I'd planned to post before the 25th.. blogging about Christmas jumpers on boxing day isn't really going to be interesting is it?! By then, I know I'll be done with Crimble & will be much more interested in all the bargains in the sales.. Can't wait to find some goodies!

Onto the outfits. I've gone a bit completely naff & crazy Christmassy here haven't I?! Ha. Definitely not Vogue street style calibre. I like dressing up a bit silly sometimes though, I'd hate to think that I took myself or the whole fashion thing too seriously.. So if I wear a daft little hat for a bit then it's not a big deal. If it brings a smile to my Nanna's face on Crimble day then it's a winner with me. Plus, it is sort of cute don't you think?! Have any of you got a 'silly' thing to wear on Christmas? I'm loving all the Christmas jumpers I've seen.. they get better every year!

TARTAN SKATER DRESS & FAUX FUR

Hat - H&M, White Top - Primark, Dress - A Shop in Leeds (it's so old sorry!), Belt - Primark, Rings & Bracelets - Pandora, Boots - Boohoo

Now, this outfit makes me feel festive. Tartan & faux fur are both always going to be an A/W staple I think. Faux fur is warm and tartan just makes me think of Christmas so I doubt I'll ever tire of either. I was planning a Christmas day outfit a few weeks ago (no.. my garden hasn't suddenly had a new lease of life!), and knew that the tartan dress would have to make an appearance. My mamma usually buys me something to wear on Crimble day (is this tradition for anyone else?!), so if that happens this year then I'll be wearing the outfit above for present delivery trips. Eeek is anyone else feeling like a big kid about it being 5 days to Christmas?!

Accessories wise I'm wearing the old faithful ones that I've had for years & worn repeatedly. We've all seen that belt once or twice haven't we?! Ha. It's just a bog standard one for years but for some reason I can't ever buy a new one.. it's helped me out with outfits for years! I'm a creature of habit & always end up with things that I can't part with, despite how battered they get.

THE LEAST PRACTICAL OF OUTFITS

Coat - H&M, Jumper - Boohoo, Bag - c/o La Moda, Shorts - DIY, Boots - c/o La Moda

So clearly, I'm dressed perfectly for freezing temperatures. Ha. Oh dear, it just gets so boring wearing all these layers don't you think?! On another note, this coat does seem like it's becoming a permenant addition to my posts. Yep, it's adding little to make this outfit warmer.. But it's just perfect for throwing on over other layers.

In my defence, this outfit is more for a night out. Let's be honest, we've all risked frostbite to look good on an evening of festive shimmying. I know this isn't really an appropriate outfit for cocktails, but I'd probably wear it to a grotty club (if I could bear potentially destroying my boots with any spilt drinks.. Probably not). As I wasn't off to some glamorous party, I just popped on some tights & a fluffy scarf to keep me cosy whilst I did some last minute Christmas shopping.

On the Christmas topic, can you believe this time next week it will just about be all over?! It'll be time to settle down to Downton, armed with a turkey sarnie. How perfect?!

WINTER'S DAY WEARING BLACK

Beanie - Topshop, Coat - H&M, Top - c/o Gypsy Warrior, Bag - Primark, Skirt - Primark, Boots - Topshop

Yep, as the title suggests, I'm once again in my clothing comfort blanket.. an all black outfit. I blame it on the fur collar & the coat, I think they just make for the perfect black ensemble! I've only had this coat a month or so & I've worn it way too much. It's not in anyway practical, but it's pretty. If it's good to look at, what's a little bit of frostbite?! Ha.

With just over a week to go to Christmas (how did that happen?!), I thought an outfit for a winter's day out might be appropriate. I'm always looking for outfit inspo for all the festive shenanigans.. another mince pie anyone?! Now, I'm not exactly wearing anything that screams 'Christmas', but it was just the right amount of layers for a chilly walk. I've also lugged along my much loved Primark bag which can fit extra hats, gloves & even thermal socks in it. It reminds me of something from Zara without a hefty price tag.

I've got lots of blog posts & videos planned for this next week or so to in keep with the Crimble spirit. I'm going to be doing plenty of outfit posts on here, then I've got some other ones for Youtube along with Xmas hairstyles, room decoration inspo. Exiting stuff!

KNITTED JOGGERS & SNAKESKIN

Hat - Missguided, Cami Top - c/o Glamorous, Knitted Joggers - H&M, Boots - Missguided

Some days, I start off with a comfy outfit & end up making it do for a night out. If I'm having one of those days where I can't be bothered with tight trousers, uncomfortable material or even a bra (hey, we all have those days girls!), then I go for something like this. Those knitted jogging bottoms are a winter purchase from last year & they have helped me out on both lazy days and trips out. The boots were just something I added to get me in some heels.. they glam everything up & I was having an 'I WANNA BE TALL!' day. If my leggypegs would like grow an inch or so for Crimble that'd be excellent.

Evidently, I've finally managed to get into the habit of taking pictures indoors. It's a lot easier over the winter months.. and warmer. Behind the view of the camera my room does end up looking like chaos but I try to tidy all the bits in the shot. My mum's hoping this is a step towards me ending my messy ways. What do you think to indoorsy pictures?! At least everything can be a bit festive.. Hello Poundland tinsel wreath.

MY EVERYDAY MAKE UP ROUTINE

*Products used listed in video*
Now, I know I said my blog wasn't going to be about YouTube. I'm loyal to my little blog, and I want to make sure that if I'm trying this whole (scary) YouTube lark that Fashion Influx is just about links to videos. Basically, I don't want to force videos of me being goofy upon you.. I know my Yorkshire accent & slightly nerdy qualities aren't for everyone.

Regardless, I thought that this video might be useful to some of you.. providing you've not already seen me harping on about it on Twitter or Instagram. I don't mean useful because I think I'm some expert in make up (evidently!), I just mean that it might answer a few of the questions I get regularly. A lot of those questions relate to make up & how I do it, so fingers crossed this should cover a few areas?!
If you've got anything else you want to ask about then feel free to ask, YouTube definitely makes it easier for me to cover this sort of thing.

P.S.. How quickly is Christmas coming round?! Eeek!

Missguided Crafty Chirstmas: DIY Christmas Jumper

Jumper - c/o Missguided (& DIY'd by Yours Truly!), Shorts - Levi's, Boots - Boohoo

So what do you think to my little bit of Christmas crafting?! I'm actually surprised that I ended up liking the final result.. half way through cutting out all those fiddly letters I decided I'd been way too ambitious. You have no idea how many times I cut straight through a particularly awkward part,  which lead to much effing & jeffing.

Anyway, I got there in the end and it is actually something I'd wear. I decided to not go for something over the top Christmassy, mainly because I have enough traditionally tacky Crimble jumpers to see me through this festive season & many more to come. It's nothing too complicated (I just found the quote then cut out the letters in felt), it just takes a little while to make. I was looking for a Christmas quote I'd not seen before & thought this one was just right.  Let's be honest, not many of us can say that we're completely 'good' the whole year through. Fingers crossed I'm not getting a lump of coal though..

Missguided have got some lovely entries up on their Facebook page, so I'd definitely go have a nosey if you're looking for some DIY Xmas inspo.. it's made me want to start doing DIY posts again!

You can vote for my jumper here!
