BOOHOO #OWNIT PASTEL OUTFIT

Necklace, Jumper, Dress, Boots - c/o Boohoo

Can I have this setting for all my blog pictures please?! Really, I could do with a full studio & some expert professional to come make me look good, but I guess my room & a tripod will do. Ha!

The first outfit from the loveliest of days at Boohoo (I will stop going on about it eventually, I promise!) was a pastel number. As a girl who reaches for black as a clothing safety blanket, pastels are the best way for me to jump back to girlyness. I mean, what could be more girly than a double dose of baby pink? Plus, the fab hair & makeup lady gave me a mega feminine up-do.. Oooh I felt like such a little fancy pants! For me, that chunky jumper finished everything off and was just the right thing to make sure I didn't look like a poor man's Malibu Barbie. Much more casual I think?

If you fancy a nosey at some more of the shoot then just click here. There's also a video from the day that includes some really lovely behind the scenes shots. However, it also includes myself saying 'erm' a lot & appearing before makeup.. why did I think it'd be okay to let them film me then?!

THE PINK COAT

Hat - H&M, Choker - eBay, Jumper - H&M, Coat - Boohoo, Flares - H&M, Bag - Primark, Creepers - eBay

Today I've only got a few snaps for you, mainly because I've just invested in a new lens & right now I'm trying to work it all out. Can you spot the difference?! I decided the Canon 50mm 1.8 thingymabobby (yep, that all means nothing to me) was the one for me after getting major blog picture envy after way too much time spent on Megan's blog. How lovely are her outfit shots?!

Outfit wise, I'm really wrapped up here due to the fact I'm into day 6 of the dreaded winter cold. Make-up free & wrapped in about 5 layers, what a delight. I was only off to chow down on some comfort food (illness is an excuse to eat like food is going out of fashion right?!) so I just threw on anything that would go with my new pink coat, the piéce de résistance of this post. I'm so happy to finally find a cheaper pastel coat.. I just couldn't justify parting with £70+ for something that I wasn't sure I'd wear much. This one is now my Legally Blonde coat. LOVE.

EVERYDAY HAIR | CURLS

ghd Jewel Styler*
Every so often, I do a bit of a 'beauty/hair' post'. Now, dabbling into the world of beauty is something I love, yet I do so with the disclaimer that I'm clearly no expert. I'm just as in to everything to do with beauty as I am fashion, but I know with beauty blogging some sort of knowledge would be desirable.. & my knowledge is definitely limited! That's probably why I mostly stick to fashion.. it's more about personal opinion isn't it?!

Anyway, this post can probably be placed under the 'My Routine' subsection.. just a little insight into what I get up to in the morning. Providing I'm not having a total slob day (this happens a lot). I've only been doing my hair like this recently, but it's now my go-to way to spruce up unruly locks. My old ghd's were beginning to be a bit of a death trap (I don't know how they've lasted 4 years with the amount of times I've dropped them), so it's really lovely to have a new pair to play with. The video that goes with this was my first time playing with them, so it was mostly a case of 'hmmm we'll try doing a few curly surly bits & hope it doesn't resemble an Edward Scissor Hands esq barnet'.. I don't think it turned out too bad?!

*This product is a PR sample, however it is something that I would buy myself if I ever had the pennies.. Ha!

OUTFIT LAYOUTS #1

I've done quite a few outfit layout posts on my blog before, but I'm thinking for the new year I'll try to make them more regular. To be honest, it's just nice to take my face out of the equation! There's only so long I can cope with looking at myself doing the same silly poses.

Outfit One
Top - Urban Outfitters, Skirt - H&M, Choker - eBay, Boots - c/o La Moda

I bought this skirt at the weekend, so you should still be able to find it in H&M. It was only £15, but I know it's one that I'll wear a lot. It's a bit of an update on the classic black body con that's always a necessity in my wardrobe. Being a advocate of the 'when in doubt, wear black' phrase, I naturally went for an outfit with zero colour. In my defence, I did later add my new pink coat (cannot wait to show you that little pastel dream!).

Outfit Two
Top - George @ Asda, Dress - c/o In Love With Fashion, Boots - Boohoo
It's still tartan season, which means I'm going to make the most of wearing this dress while it's still a bit nippy. I love the collar and the zip.. I'm now looking at these outfits thinking have I got a thing for asymettric zip details?! Maybe so. The dress is one that's perfect for layering up. I'm thinking a mesh long sleeved top underneath next.. but is that perhaps a bit T.A.T.U circa 2002?! Ha. Ah well, I'll give it a bash & keep you updated.

BOOHOO BLOGGER SHOOT: BEHIND THE SCENES

This is sort of blog post where I could go on & on about everything and bore you all to death.. so if I do, I apologise. I will try to keep it short and sweet.

Last week, I tripped off to Manchester for a day of girly events thanks to the lovelies at Boohoo. Our arrival was greeted with waffles.. as food is the way to my heart I was a very happy bunny. The rest of the day was all things glam.. make up, hair & lots of dressing up. After a busy Christmas interning & working, it was so nice to have a day filled with nice things. I don't have the time to get dolled up as much, so being pampered was much appreciated.

The day was extra special as I got to meet the three gorgeous ladies above.. aren't they purrrdy?! It's always nice to meet people who 'get' blogging.. nobody minds if you sit there tweeting your every move & refuse to eat your food without taking a picture of it first. Yep, I do have to admit to that. Do bloggers ever eat a meal when it's red hot?! Ha

Anyway, big thank you to Boohoo for organising such a fun day. Beyond grateful that they have given me a story to tell when I'm old, grey and living with 5 cats.

VELVET RIDING PANTS

Jumper - c/o Educate Elevate, Leggings - Boohoo, Boots - c/o La Moda

If it makes your ass look like you squat (I do one and expect to look like J.Lo, then get grumpy when I don't), then it's a hit with me. Praise the Lord for any form of sucky in leggings! Yep, you feel like you've been vacuum wrapped to be stocked on the shelves of Asda, but your ass has been lifted a good inch or so. Ha. Girl probs or what?

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that any form of legging, disco pant or riding pant is a help in that department. This pair are a mega cheap version from Boohoo that I've been wearing way too much.. just flick a few posts back, sure you'll spot them again! I think I've got just enough time to get wearing these before the pastels and brights arrive for S/S.

Top half wise I'm wearing a snuggly crop from the lovelies at Educate Elevate. I'm loving it with everything high waisted.. it's the perfect length for not feeling like you're flashing too much of the food bubba.

BLACK MAXI & CUT OUTS

Beanie - c/o Parody Clothing, Faux Fur Collar - Topshop, Top - c/o Evil Twin, Skirt - H&M

Once again, I'm back looking like a a bit of a vampire. For me, there's just something about a black maxi skirt that equals goth.. I guess it's the Morticia vibes. I do completely love dressing all gothic. I can't help but want to slap on the black lippy & be all dark and mysterious.

Moving on. Today's outfit does revolve around the maxi. I just pop one on when I'm in a rush, mixing it up with whatever top I drag out of my wardrobe first and adding some sort of hat. You know I'm practically naked without a hat on. Ha.

I always class a black maxi as a year long must have. I whack a pair of tights on underneath when it's ridonkulously freezing, then wear them in the summer with little crop tops. Currently, they are an excuse to extend the period of not having to expose my rather pale, unloved looking legs to the world. The winter has left my pins feeling neglected. Bring on fake tan & a spritz of body oil.

BLACK SKINNIES & SEQUINS

Earrings - Accessorize, Jacket - Monsoon, Turtle Neck - H&M, Black Skinny Jeans - Monsoon, Clutch -  Accessorize, Boots - Missguided

Party season is well and truly over but timing has never been my thing.. Anyway, why should all the glam, glitzy outfits be saved for Crimble?! We all love a good party outfit right?

I know I do. At the same time, I'm always a cosy night in girl over nights out freezing my pins off. I'm boring, shoot me. Ha. I don't drink, so going out for me can equal being that awkward sober girl. Having said that, when I do go out I'm like 'pass me the rollers & falsies'. I can't help but love a bit of glamour. Which means this outfit is my dreamy little night out combo. Skinnies, so you don't end up looking like a plucked chicken. Sequins & sparkles, forever making any outfit fancy. Broken neck inducing heels, night out necessity.

Forever reading my posts back thinking 'Lydia, you talk so much crap'. Ha. Apologies about my constant rambling.

MITTENS & A FLUFFY JUMPER

Hat - Accessorize, Jumper - Primark, Faux Fur Collar - Accessorize, Gloves - Accessorize, Skirt - Monsoon, Boots - Boohoo

Sometimes, one requires mittens. Especially one who's as addicted to touch screen devices as I am. Must. Put. My. Phone. Down. Mittens are thankfully good to look at and practical.. let's be honest, no one's quite managed to make those gloves that work with touch screens look good yet. If they have, then puhhhlease hook me up!

Now, for me, this outfit is quite practical. Yep, I'm not wearing a coat but I can assure you I did add my battered leather jacket shortly after. That thing is like a beautiful mess now.. I still completely love it, but it has started to look a little tired.

I guess today I'm a bit OTT with accessories.. I'm usually forgetting to put my rings on, never mind gloves, glitzy bracelets, a necklace, a collar & a hat. Okay, very OTT. Sometimes I need a good accessories injection.

CHECKED SHIRT & LEGGINGS

Shirt - Primark, Top - New Look, Leggings - Boohoo, Boots - c/o La Moda

I've got to admit, I feel a little bit like a (poor) wannabe Rihanna. I'm sure she's rocked the shirt round  the waist look in a much better way than myself, but let's be honest, Rihanna could make a sack look good.

Today was a simple-pimple outfit day. Leggings, a top and some other bits thrown in. That's usually what I go for when I'm in a rush.. plain basics & some fancy accessories. Here I was rushing around like a crazy girl on my way to the post office (those little red slips haunt me). I ended up putting the shirt on just for extra warmth. I guess when you're Rihanna the freezing temperatures in Sheffield aren't a problem. Ha. I added my leather jacket & faux fur gillet just to make sure I was toasty.. girls we can't be dealing with goosebumps right?!

WRAP DRESS & HEELS

Fur Collar - Topshop, Dress - Bank, Heels - Missguided

I'm sure you can all tell that this a bit of a pre winter throwback. I took these pictures around November time and somewhere along the way they got added to the blog pictures that time forgot. My computer is full of them. Occasionally, I come across them (usually months later, when I'm trying to get my computer into some sort of logical order), and they finally get posted.

Now, is this actually appropriate for the time of the year? Probably not. Party season is over, and I'm rocking up on the blog in heels, a somewhat shiny dress and faux fur. Am I perhaps turning into Joan Collins? While it isn't exactly the time for dressing up, we do have Valentines around the corner..yes, groan from us singletons. Whether you're spending it with the love in your life or you're going to do single in style, it's nice to potentially have a day to dress up. Unfortunately, I'll probably spend mine with my kitties eating chocolate (maybe I'm more Bridget Jones?), but I'm sure one year there'll be a time to fetch out a little number like this.

DAISIES & THE SLOUCHIEST TROUSERS

Daisy Jumper - c/o So In Fashion,  Choker - Ebay, Trousers - Topshop Unique, Boots - Boohoo

I'm sure some of you will be thinking, 'Lydia, why on earth are you wearing trousers baggier than Bieber's'. Yep, they are quite an odd shape but I still kind of like them.. they're Topshop Unique after all! I bought theM in the sale years ago, and admittedly they are difficult to pair up. I mean what goes with Aladdin esq. trousers other than a magic carpet?

So of course, I popped them with my go-to 'when in doubt' item. A good old crop top. I think the daisies lighten up an outfit that could appear a bit masculine.. I can't help but be a total girly girl at heart.

Just a quick one today as I've just started another internship & subsequently life has gone up on the busy scale again.. I much prefer being on the go, but I will look forward to getting a onesie on & putting myself in a carb coma.

WILDFOX OOTD

Coat - H&M, Turtle Neck - H&M, Bag - Primark, Top - c/o Wildfox, Leggings - Boohoo, Frilly Socks - c/o Emma Warren Design

Yep, as the title suggests, this is an outfit featuring Wildfox. The Wildfox. I am beyond happy that my wardrobe now includes a little piece by them.. dare I make the statement that life is better in Wildfox? Ha. I'm getting a little carried away here, but as a thrifty shopper I don't really purchase slightly extravagant, non high street items. This flouncy top is the closest I'm getting to a designer piece anytime soon!

The top was the perfect thing to go with my velvet riding pants I got from Boohoo a few weeks ago. When I saw them on the New In section I had a moment of 'they're black, they're high waisted & they're velvet.. the Gods have spoken'. A few of my favourite things all rolled into one.
