INSTAGRAM OUTFIT #2: FLORAL FLARES

Kimono -  c/o Stone Fox, Top - H&M, Flares - Forever 21, Boots - Forever 21

I'm starting to think I'd like to whack a filter on every one of my blog pictures. Ha. In fact, I think they should crack on with making 'filter glasses', so we can all look as good as we do on Instagram. I'll patent that 'un.

Just got my Ma to take these quick snaps in our garden, while it was still clinging on to being a little summery. I'd spent the day in these faaabulous flares feeling pretty girly. They're one of my favourite things in my wardrobe right now. I've got another pair in more of an aztec pattern.. The floral ones here I bought after realising flares were a good thing to have in my life. I'm a bit done with skinny jeans I think. Yeah, I'll still wear them religiously, but I always feel like I need some sort of heel to make my legs not look like short chicken drumsticks. With flares, the wide leg balances out my bottom and I don't feel quite so like 'LOOK, here's my ass'.. Y'know?

I'm now fancying a denim pair.. black obviously. Payday, hurry yourself up.

A FEW SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES

Just a few little favourites from this month. Shoes, sunnies and a good book. My kind of stuff.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower
Who doesn't like this book really?! I'm that total copout that watched the film before the book. Subsequently fell in love with Patrick, and now I'm quickly getting through this.

Sunglasses - Magazine Freebie
I'm a cheapskate. My current favourite sunglasses are the pair I got free with a magazine. Dead shmancy Lydia.. Anna Wintour would recoil in horror. I like them though, so I don't mind that they cost next to nothing.

Boots - Forever 21
I don't know why I've even included these.. You've seen them in every blinkin' outfit post right?! They're my favourite everyday shoe - a little heel that I can walk in, they're black and they're pointy. I think that's a good basis for any shoe.

TARTAN SCARF

Hat - H&M, Crop Top - Primark, Scarf - Boohoo, Jeans - Missguided, Boots - Forever 21

Some of you might have seen me post about this outfit on Instagram.. it was a little thing I did for Company mad. It was the last ever print edition, something I’m gutted about - it’s been one of my favourite magazines for years! I’ve been reading Company since my teens and it was the one I always went for at the newsagents. It had all my kind of fashion in it and you got a fair amount of change from a fiver. Ha. That’s me being tight as usual. The mag is going to carry on online, but for me it’s not quite the same.. I like the idea of reading books on a Kindle but I don’t think I’ll ever stop buying the physical copies.

Outfit wise I’m ready for Autumn. Bring on cold weather now. I’m bored of the in-between season, I want read hot summer or chilly winter. Deciding what to wear is so much easier when it’s one or the other! As a result I’ve been wearing this scarf since mid August. That is mainly because it’s the snuggliest thing ever.. I use it like a comfort blanket. Definitely need another duvet sized version of this.

SEPTEMBER DAY OUT

Sunglasses - Magazine Freebie, Necklace - c/o Lola&Grace, Top - LNA Clothing, Leather Jacket - Topshop, Skirt - c/o Forever 21, Boots - c/o Forever 21

I loved this day. A week or so ago, at some pretty place for hot chocolate treats & a wander round in late summer sunshine. Wowzers, I sound a bit like I'm writing a crappy novel.. Back to the clothesy stuff.

Outfit wise it was all comfy and kind of lazy.. Nothing too matchy-matchy, tight, or swish looking. I'm big on comfort so I love everything that's made with super soft material & that's a bit oversized. The t-shirt is all those things, my favourite when I want something that's the clothing equivalent of a comfort blanket. Same goes for my jacket, it's on old faithful that in my eyes has aged as well as David Beckham. The leather's so soft after 5 years of wear!

DETAILS: A/W FAUX FUR

Scarf - Zara, T-Shirt - H&M, Ring - H&M

With full blown Autumn just around the corner I'm raking out all my winter warmers from the depths of my wardrobe. As much as I hate winter (it's only allowed to snow on my days off okay?!), I do love all the snuggly essentials that come with A/W fashion. Gloves, chunky knit hats & big fluffy scarves like this one.. Yes please!

This furry thaaang is my number one favourite for the nippy season. It's already a year old but it's one of those things that I know I'll have for yonks.. Faux fur around this time of year is one of those things that I don't think will ever get old. Plus whenever I wear anything like this I feel like a fancy, winter wonderland princess. Last year I wore it like collar, but this year I think I'll be wrapping myself up in it like this.. Hair tucked in, feeling super cosy.

BLOGGING FAVOURITES

I get quite a few general questions on blogging, so I thought this kind of thing might be useful to some of you. Plus, I love reading this kind of thing on other blogs.. I guess I like the nosey side of it, a bit of a 'behind the scenes' sort of thing. Anyhoo, I'm by no means clued up when it comes to blogging (I've had my DSLR for well over a year and I'm still pretty useless with it), but these are the bits & bobs that help me out.

External Hard Drive
A must. For me, 40000 pictures on my computer isn't that much. My laptop doesn't agree. It's not the most glamorous of blogging essentials, but having somewhere to put all your pictures is handy if you want to stay on good terms with your computer. Plus, I do envisage that in my 70s, I'll find all these storage devices and be able to look back on my 'heyday'.. when grandma was less wrinkly and grey. Ha.

Canon 1.8 50mm Lens
This is the lens I use for all my outdoorsy shots. It's probably not the best for what I need (you have to position your camera miles away to get in shot), but it's the cheapest to get a bit of that blurry background thing going on.

 Filofax
Girl gotta be organised. I'm not, not at all, but I try. Having an organiser does work a little bit.. I write plenty of lists and notes relating to blogging, they're just not quite as neat as I'd like them to be. Having said that, I do lug my Filofax around a lot. Good intentions.

DSLR Remote
My biggest blog pictures essential. I once used to manage focusing my camera on the bird table, that was until I realised you could get these things for around £15 on eBay. 90% of my blog pictures are done by myself, with my tripod and this remote. I'm way too awkward with people taking my picture, so I can snap away on this without it all being a big cringe fest.

 Samsung S3
I've since upgraded to the S5, but I am indeed a blogger that doesn't own an iPhone. Shock horror! I've nothing against iPhones, I just like the fancy pants camera you get with Samsung. It makes my Instagram obsessed life a little easier.

CREAM CARDIGAN & MINI DRESS

Necklace - Skiathos, Dress - Charity Shop, Cardigan - H&M, Belt - Primark, Boots - Forever 21

Currently, life is one big opportunity to get my legs out for a final few times before it's too chilly. I miss that about summer so much.. It's such a pain having to constantly think if tights go with an outfit or not. Yep, there's definitely an air of 'first world problems' going on here, but you know what I mean. Tights are boring

I've just got a little charity shop dress on today with a really cheap, comfy cardigan from H&M. The dress reminds me of something much fancier from American Apparel - pretty basic but a good fit. Not bad for £3 eh?!

GREY DAY

Hat - c/o My Brother, Top - Primark, Coat - New Look, Shorts - Boohoo, Watch - c/o Shore Projects, Bracelet c/o Anna Lou of London, Boots - Forever 21

I think it's about time I got back in a beanie hat. I didn't really bother with them as much last year but I think I've decided I'm once again a lover for the chilly season. Really, who doesn't love something that can disguise horrible hair days?!

Alongside beanies, recently I've also been a bit mad for everything grey. Hence a mostly grey outfit. I guess it's just an extension of my monochrome obsession.. Nothing too far out of my comfort zone. I just think it's a good basic colour for A/W - I know the new grey bits & bobs I've added to my life will get worn out over the next few months. The watch is the newest grey thing I've added to my life.. I avoided being a total bore-face and opted for this lighter strap, opposed to the black I was tempted by. I'm glad I went for this one, it looks so lovely with the silver/black face!

INSTAGRAM OUTFIT: DUSTER COAT

Coat - Primark, T-Shirt - Primark, Jeans - Missguided, Bag - c/o Paul's Boutique, Boots - Forever 21

A lot of the time, the outfits I post on Instagram are my favourites. I don't always have time to lug out the DSLR & the tripod.. It is so much easier to just get my mum to take a few snaps before I pop out. There's no faffing to get the right background and lighting, plus there's no time for me to focus too much on what my face is doing. My mum definitely hasn't got the patience for me moaning about my Chandler Bing smile on the billionth picture. I thought I might just post these from time to time, when I've got something worth raving about.

My something worth raving about today is the coat. Can you believe it's from Primark?! I've had my eye on some similar ones from Topshop & the like but they're way out of my price range. It's definitely a bit like a lab coat but I still love it.. Especially for this awkward time of year when the weather can't decide what the fudge it's doing. Something to keep my shoulders warm without being wrapped up to look like a polar bear.

On the topic.. Have you seen the new Primark A/W stuff? Ugh I want a new wardrobe!

STRIPED SHIRT

Cross Necklace - Skiathos, Ancor Necklace - c/o Lola & Grace, Shirt - Zara, Jeans - Missguided, Boots - Forever 21, Ring - c/o La Moda

I bought this shirt a couple of weeks ago and other than in these pictures I'm yet to wear it. I bought it as a bit of a treat for work (yep, when you're as tight with money as I am a £20 shirt from Zara is quite a big splurge..). It wasn't anything I'd planned to buy, I just liked it so I bought it. I know, I'm crrraaazy like that. I was going to put YOLO but that might have been a step too far. Anyhoo, I think I'm going to save it for when winter well and truly sets in. Long sleeved tops are a rarity in my wardrobe (I usually just layer up), so this can be for the colder, more fancy-schmancy days.

Jewellery wise I've stacked up. I've got a little cross necklace I bought on holiday and a silver anchor on from Lola & Grace. They've just opening a store in Meadowhall which means I'm now obsessed. Adding to the Christmas list already.

MINI SKIRT & SHEER SHIRT

Shirt - c/o Daisy Street, Skirt - H&M, Boots - Forever 21

I've worn this shirt on here before here, but today I've got it tucked up a little bit.. making the most of wearing it like this before it's way too nippy. I'm not sure this outfit on a whole is very season appropriate, but I just wore it with my big H&M trench coat so it was a bit warmer. I'm thinking I've probably got until mid-late September to continue getting my legs out so I'm going enjoy it while it lasts.

I'd just had my hair done here - hence why it's looking a tad more sleek than usual. I copy what my hairdresser does (well, I try to..) and use the same products yet why does it never look the same when I do it?! Hairdressers have magic hands. Anyway, I guess I do have a bit of a proper 'ombre' do now.. a few people have tried to suggest to me that I'm no longer blonde & I'm like 'WHAT?!'. I'm a bit attached to being a blondie, but I do prefer it now it's less high maintenance.

DRESS & RIPPED JEANS

Sunglasses - Magazine Freebie, Necklace - Skiathos, Dress - Charity Shop, Jeans - Zara, Boots - Forever 21

My outfit here completely summarises how indecisive I can be. Y'know the 'I wanna wear a dress, but I also wanna wear jeans' kind of days? Yep, one of those. In the end I kind of ended up wearing both. Admittedly, it's a short dress but a dress all the same. I just tucked in so it wasn't too like the 90s trousers with attached skirts trend I remember from way back when.. who else had a pair?!

The jeans are ones I've showed you before.. they are getting even more battered every time I wear them though. There's soon going to be more rips than jeans.

PAISLEY & HIGH WAISTED TROUSERS

Hat - Boohoo, Top - c/o Missguided, Trousers - H&M

I quite like what I'm wearing today. It's nothing mega posh, just a few cheap bits that I've loved over the summer.. all put together. Plus it's just about all black. That's always going to be a winner for me.

The hat is one I got last year from Boohoo. I've actually worn it more this year, I think I've finally worked out how to wear it without looking like a floppy hat dork. These big hats can be a bit awkward don't you think? Yeah, it's alright when you're swanning around somewhere hot or having a nice wander in the much more cosmopolitan London, but when you're where I live, you can wear jeans that aren't black or blue and get looks like you're off another planet. To be fair, I like in a little village where 90% of the population are in their 70s.

SPLIT MAXI SKIRT

Necklace - Accessorize, Top - Forever 21 & Skirt - Forever 21, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

I'm getting down to what will probably be my last few summery outfits and this definitely makes me a bit sad. This is probably (maths isn't my forte) my third summer blogging and I can admit that it's always so much easier than in the winter. No freezing your bits off, no battling with rain and definitely no trudging through the snow. Oh flipping heck.. Bring on the winter eh.

Anyway, outfit time. The skirt is one I've loved this summer. It's really floaty, and the splits mean I can flash a bit of leg without being a bit 'ooh look at my pins'.. not that I'm opposed to getting my legs out every now and then. The crop top is from Forever 21 too, it's just one of those dead cheap basic ones. Yep, if you haven't realised, I am a little bit obsessed with Forever 21 at the minute. I'd say it's become my favourite online shop.. Yet to order anything from them that I haven't worn to death.

BLACK JEANS & JACKET

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Top - Forever 21, Jacket - Boohoo, Jeans - Levi's, Slip Ons - Topshop

I think this is one of my favourite smart/casual outfits, even if it is on more of the casual side. If I was off out, I'd probably just swap the slip ons for some strappy sandals to jazz it up. That's my go-to these days - if I'm going out I stick on jeans & some pretty heels.. Done. No faffing about with a dress that I'm pulling down all night (yeah, uni days - this happened a lot), or struggling with a playsuit that leaves me naked every time I nip for a wee. I'm not saying my party dress days are over, but I'm happy with casual evening outfits for now.

Well that was a little ramble wasn't it? Anyway, I'll quickly mention the jacket. I've worn it on here before but it's recently become a 'more than once a week' item. Y'know, those few things that you wear so much that you worry people will think that you haven't washed them in-between. Yep, I'm queen of over thinking things. This jacket is one of them, along with my black skinny jeans and slouchy t-shirts. It's just a nice piece for popping on for work. Kind of smart without being way too fancy.
