LASER HAIR REMOVAL: PHILIPS LUMEA PRECISION PLUS

It's been a good a good couple of months now that I've had this one. I've held off posting, as I wanted to make sure I'd given it a proper trial before I sang it's praises. It's not the kind of thing you can be amazed by first time round.. it's a long process and I've finally got to the stage where I can actually make judgement.

So, the verdict. Am I totally fuzz free and looking shiny smooth like a VS Angel? We're getting there.. although the Victoria's Secret bit we are going to struggle with, but then they have the genes of dreamy goddesses. It's taken me until this time to really be able to say that I've noticed a difference, so it is something that takes a while, but is definitely worth it in the long run. I could get totally carried away and zap every hair on my body minus my head.. It is pretty addictive seeing fluffy arms and legs go from fuzzy to more along the 'bald as a badger' lines.

The other area I'd definitely zap away at is facial hair. I'm not saying I had the tash of a 50 year old bloke, but I did have plenty of baby hairs around my jawline and the side of my face.. The annoying sort that gets all stuck in foundation. This was the first spot I really noticed a difference and I've not  had to keep on zapping much since.

Overall, I'm a fan. Yeah, it's expensive.. but then there isn't really anything else out there that's going to leave you properly hair free for a good portion of time. I would say don't expect this to be an overnight solution. It's going to take time and you're going to have to stick to buzzing away at yourself, but eventually you get there and it's worth it. Kimmy K eat your heart out.

On a side note.. I'm aware 'fashioninflux' has been a little less fashion focused recently. With a new year and all that jazz I've been wanting to make a few changes, although on a whole it'll be pretty similar. I think I'll update you all soon - mostly so I can have a good old ramble.

Yeeesh.. that was a long one for me!

VIDEO | MAKEUP & HAIR STUFFS

I normally film this sort of thing, forget to take a picture for the thumbnail then try and screen shot something to make do.. Which means most of my videos never make it onto my blog. Even still, I don't usually bother posting my videos on here, mainly because I'm not sure if people who read my blog are quite so bothered about my awkward self on film. YouTube is always a funny one and I'm still not sure if I can ever bridge the gap between that and blogging, but I do love faffing around filming and editing (not always with as much success as I'd like).. It's a bit like going back to the days of school projects. This video I filmed actually made the cut - I'm still playing around with this camera (and forever increasing on the vanity scale) so I did manage to get some snaps to go alongside it.

To cut a long story short (I'm writing this before work, toast in hand, hoping traffic will for once be on my side), the video pretty much explains everything. It's more of a 'GRWM' rather than a tutorial - I don't think I'm anywhere close to being in a position to say 'this is what you should do with your curlers and this is how you should trowel on the foundation'.. Ha. I like dolling myself up with makeup, but I'm definitely amateur! It's all a bit Ariana Grande inspired, mostly because of that little hair do. For me, whenever I do that hair I AM ARIANA. Ha. I wish, but it does make me feel a bit like a teeny weeny popstar. Anyway, enjoy!

SIMPLE IN LEVI'S

Jumper - Primark, Bag - c/o La Moda, Coat - H&M, Jeans - Vintage Levi's, Boots - Forever 21

This is my go-to kind of outfit. Simple, nothing too fancy and just generally basic. I like wardrobe essentials - cosy  jumpers, the favourite jeans you've worn out completely and the handbag that goes on every trip out. Yeah, I love dressing up too, but it's always nice to have those 'comfort blanket' items.

I was just off to town here (I think it was to spend another 20quid in Boots that really wasn't necessary..) hence being pretty casual. Plus, it was way too windy to go for anything other than practical. I want to start wearing my floppy fedora again but I just know the first time I do it will blow off and leave me awkwardly chasing after it. Anyhoo, I didn't bother with a hat and just ended up with that hair all over the place sitch. When is it summer again?!

I've been asked quite a bit about these jeans. I think it's because they're Levi's.. how can you go wrong in a pair?! I got them a good while ago now, from the little vintage section in Miss Selfridge (I'm not sure they even do that kind of thing anymore). They do fit perfect, which for me is unusual.. I always find shops don't seem to make high waisted denim to fit rather large bottoms & smaller waists. So yeah, if you're vintage shopping or hounding charity shops and find a good pair of these, definitely get them.

KNEE HIGH LOVING

Boots - c/o Dorothy Perkins
As I mentioned, I thought I'd do a proper post on these boots seen as you couldn't really see them in my last post and they are oh so pretty. I'm always more of a boots girl, so these were a much appreciated addition to my collection. Why struggle in heels when you can add height with a pair of boots?!

Dotty P have done really well with these knee high beauties. They're not vacuum packed/dominatrix style tight but they're still kind of sassy. I'm hoping they'll start to replace my Forever 21 ankle boots as my footwear of choice. The heel on these is a little bit bigger.. Always a fan of making my stubby legs look a bit longer.

Anyway, I'm going to have to keep this short and sweet as I've just put some nails on that are ridiculously long and I can't type at all. It's took me about half an hour to write a few paragraphs. How do people do this?!

BOOTS & A MAXI SKIRT

Top - New Look, Coat - H&M, Skirt - H&M, Boots - c/o Dorothy Perkins

I'm writing this after another snow day, thinking this outfit would now be totally inappropriate. When I took these pictures it was much warmer (well, as 'warmer' as it ever gets at this time of year), so I could just about brave flashing a bit of leg. I know everyone's mad for the over the knee boots at the minute, but I'm yet to give in and buy a pair. I do love them.. I just can't justify another pair of boots. I'm pretty sure if I fetch anymore shoes home my ma will be packing my bags for me. Ha.

The Dotty P boots I've got on are more like a 'knee skimmer', rather than their longer thigh high cousins. My favourite fit for wearing with long skirts and dresses.. Makes a change from vacuum packing yourself in tights. I think I'll do a proper post on these sometime soon. These snaps were just ones I took on my new camera whilst faffing around with the settings.

Oh, I am wearing that new top I mentioned a couple of posts ago. It's a nice little basic don't you think? Ribbed and a good colour. Love.

DETAILS: STRIPES & CAMEL

Scarf - H&M, Shirt Dress - New Look, Watch - c/o Daniel Wellington, Black Purse - Accessorize, Ring - Pandora
Lippy - Maybelline 24 Colour Pink Spice

This is a bit of a 'I'm wearing all the things I just showed you in a post' post. With a few extra accessories thrown in and some DIY bodge job nails (not totally fabulous looking after a few days of wear, but they'll do). I only managed to get a few snaps on my way out, but I quite like this snippet kind of thing. I was only wearing tights and boots on my bottom half and there are only so many tights you can say about that.

With accessories, here I'm mostly wearing favourites. The camel scarf is my little bit of Kimye.. Everything camel just makes me think of sassy Kimmy K in the oversized camel coat. It goes with plenty in my hugely monochrome wardrobe. That little watch is my newest Daniel Wellington. I love how it's super traditional, I feel like I could still wear this when I'm 70 and count on it not looking out of place.

I will mention makeup quickly.. There's nothing too fancy here, I'm just clinging onto a last few eyelash extensions with a bit of grey shadow smudged on. Lips wise it's one of those Maybelline long lasting lip colours. Nothing too pink but more colour than a nude.

GYM OUTFIT FT. #boohooFIT

Jumper & Leggings - c/o Boohoo, Trainers - Nike

LOL at Lydia's 'do a pose that looks athletic' moment. I dunno, I'm crap at all this fitness business. I do try, but admittedly I'm not a gym bunny. Having said that, the thought of fancy sporty outfits does make it sound more appealing. I did have a bit of a thaaang for doing workout videos in my room not long back, so I'm hoping I'm going to get back into that. I did actually enjoy it. More of a few sit ups at home kind of gal than tearing it up at the gym.

Anyway, I'm loving all the boohooFIT stuffs. There are loads of different styles (some way too cool for little old me.. WHY haven't I got Jessie J's swag to be able to rock a printed one piece?!), but I'm mostly into all the black basics.. Shock horror. This set was a favourite as it's not totally dull without being too 'look at me I'm killing/really not killing it it at the gym'.  I don't need to be drawing too much attention to my sweaty face when I'm struggling after 2 minutes on the treadmill.

Has anyone else picked up any of the boohooFIT range?! Inspire me, I've just booked my summer jollies so if I know we're all slugging it out over a beach bod then I'll feel much better.

NEW IN: CAMERA, BASICS & BEAUTY

Samsung NX Mini - John Lewis (gotta get that 2 year guarantee ha), Rust Top - New Look, Shirt Dress - New Look, Elegant Touch Stiletto Nails, Barry M Nail Varnish, Leather Case - Accessorize, Bag - c/o La Moda (this is old.. it just looked cute with the New Look stuff ha)

Thought I'd do a quick round up on some newbies in my life. I had a bit of Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket (could have gone on petrol, food, general life necessities but meeeh.. everyone needs a treat every now and then right?!), so decided to put it towards something more substantial rather than loads of bits of crap. Hence the camera. I didn't really need another camera, but I do love all this photography stuff (despite not being that good at it) and I thought it'd be handy.. I love my DSLR but it's just a bit clunky to lug around. I'm so glad I got this one. I was going to get the NX3000 but decided with its lens size there wouldn't actually be much difference in terms of portability between that at my big camera. The flip up screen is a bloody wonder and new levels of vanity have certainly been reached. If you're into Instagram, selfies (unashamed to admit I'm that person.. there's this beauty feature which is a dream) and generally taking snaps of everything then I'd definitely recommend it.

Other than that I've just added a couple of wardrobe basics and unnecessary Boots purchases. I can go in that bloody place with no intention of spending and end up £50 worse off. This time round I just picked up bits & bobs for my nails.. After I'm once again on the quest to be more 'glam'. I'll have a bash with those stick ons and see how it goes.

Clothes wise I could have spent way more in New Look. I know it's known for being pretty cheap and cheerful, but the latest stuff they've fetched in is lush! All slouchy striped shirts and grown up colours. I love, my bank balance doesn't.

CHECKS & ACCESSORIES

 Turtle Neck - ZARA, Waistcoat - c/o BoohooTrousers - c/o Loving Youth, Bag - Topshop, Boots - Forever 21

These trousers are back. I'd kind of forgot about them, but after lugging them out the bottom of my wardrobe (sorry lovely Burberry esq. trousers, I have mistreated you), I was straight back in them. To be honest, I probably wore this outfit last year, perhaps with slightly different accessories. Even though they're quite bold, I think they've got a bit of longevity when it comes to trends.. What with the Clueless vibes still doing the rounds.

On the accessories front I've just gone for my Topshop suede bag (as a lover of everything black I've managed to find plenty to go with it) and a few simple silver rings for my sausage fingers. Oh how it must be lovely to have long, elegant piano fingers but alas, it was not meant to be. On a related note I've also got semi-neat nails. After having my nails properly diiid over Crimble I'm now totally sold on the glamorous talons thing. Unfortunately, I ping them off in about 5 minutes. I've booked to have them done again in a couple of weeks, but for now I've just stuck some stick on ones (those Impress ones you can get in boots..). Close up, yeah, they ain't quite so schmancy, but from a distance they definitely look better than my stubby nails. So wish they made them in an oval shape.. the square look just isn't helping chubby finger syndrome.

MONOCHROME DETAILS

Bag - c/o La Moda, Necklace - c/o Anna Lou of London, Lace One Piece - Primark, Shirt - c/o Dorothy Perkins, Trousers - c/o Boohoo, Heels - c/o Boohoo

These snaps are just a few I took on my new camera.. I'll still stick to my DSLR the majority of the time but I've just spent the last week or so faffing around with my new gadget. My face does look a bit smudgy; it has a 'beauty' setting that makes your skin look all smooth and glowy.. Life. Changed. Ha. It's great for Instagram and general snaps, but probably is a bit full on for bigger pictures like this. I've got a post to come that includes it, so I'll probably mention how I'm getting on with it then.

Outfit wise I'm actually wearing a 'going out' outfit. Shock horror. I'm always more casual, but there are odd occasions where I do get dolled up. I played it safe and went for monochrome. The trousers are newbies that I didn't want to wear somewhere boring on their first trip out. Yeah, the little lacy thaaang is a bit risqué but with the shirt I think I'm mostly covered up. That sort of thing is wasted on being covered up!

Jewellery wise I've just got my usual everyday stuff and a necklace from Anna Lou of London that I got just before Christmas. The perfect early Crimble present. It's personalised with my initial and a rose gold 'ACHIEVE' charm. I'm such a sucker for anything you can add your own touch too.. Dead cute.

SKINNIES & HEELS

Hat - Boohoo, Scarf - H&M, Jumper - c/o Boohoo, Jeans - Missguided, Heels - c/o Dorothy Perkins

I actually took these pictures a fair while ago (we're talking pre-Christmas.. pictures that managed to get lost in the realms of my Macbook) but it's an outfit that I've ended up wearing for work since then. Minus the hat and heels.. as much as I'd like to be I'm not quite that glam for workypops.

The jumper is just an oversized one from Boohoo.. pretty simple but a nice basic. I love grey with camel at the minute and usually tie it in with that scarf. I've basically spent my winter wrapped up in this. On the snuggle scale it's a winner.

FULL LENGTH COAT

Coat - c/o Boohoo, Turtle Neck - H&M, Jeans - Missguided, Boots - c/o Boohoo

All black errrthang. Life is easier in black clothing. All your none black accessories go (don't own any) and all your none black accessories go too (don't own any). Ha. I do have a few bright accessories, but yeah, you get the gist.

Coat wise you're looking at my A/W wardrobe. I think I've actually already worn it out.. Mainly because I've had it on almost everyday since it arrived, in rain, wind and yup, snow. I've definitely realised that ankle length coats are the way forward when it's as chilly as it has been. It's the closest I'm going to get to wearing a dressing gown in public. Happy days!

Other than that I'm just in my favourite turtle neck & high waisted skinnies. Again they've both been worn to death this winter, but they're old faithfuls on days when I can't think of what to wear. When in doubt, I'm in skinny black trousers.

LIPPY FAVOURITES

Clockwise - MAC Dark Side, MAC Sheer Plum, MAC Honey Love, Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colour (Pink Spice), Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colour (Rose Dust), MAC Hue, Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colour (Soft Taupe)
Makeup, at least when it comes to blogging, isn't really my 'thing'. Not that I'm super skilled with it outside of blogging, but when it comes to treating myself I probably spend a lot more on unnecessary beauty products than I do clothes. You just can't beat having a little spend in MAC or coming home from a shopping trip with a little Chanel purchase (few and far between thanks to me having grown up things to pay for like petrol and food.. blehhhh).

With 2015 already in full swing I thought I'd do a small round up on a few lippy favourites. Admittedly, there isn't much variety, but I like what I like and as a result go back for many variations of the save thing. MAC loves include Sheer Plum, now discontinued much to my dissapointment and Honey Love.. Similar to the much lusted after Velvet Teddy. If it's matte, nude or some burgundy sort of colour then I'm a fan.

I've also got a few of the Maybelline 24 Hour Lip Colours. I know a lot of people say these are too drying (they are pretty dry, but they do come with a balmy-thingymabobby) but I love the few colours I've got and they come in handy if you're messy and always end up with a shmushy lipstick face.. Basically I'm talking about me.

INSTAGRAM OUTFIT #7

Scarf - c/o Charlotte Simone, Turtle Neck - H&M, Skirt - Topshop, Boots - c/o Dorothy Perkins

Owww it's nice to still dress festive even if the festive season is now over. These are just a few snaps my ma managed to take on my phone.. Boxing Day I think. It's pre-snow, but I do still feel a bit like a snow bunny. It's the scarf that does it I think. I'm flashing a bit of leg here (all be it in tights), even though it was starting to get extra chilly.. Thankfully I had that ankle length coat to wrap up and stay cosy in.

I didn't manage to get many other shots of what I was wearing (my ma has a limited amount of patience for me saying I look like a troll on every picture) other than a little snap of my nails. I had them done as a treat before Christmas and they're still looking fairly decent.. Despite the fact that I am not at all good to them. I'm kind of tempted to carry on getting them done. Nice nails just take you from drab to faaab don't you think?! Well, at least a tad more glamorous anyway.

SNOW DAY

Hat - c/o Amelia Jane London, Scarf - c/o Boohoo, Coat - c/o Boohoo, Dress - Primark, Boots - Oldies

Up Sheffield way, we missed a white Christmas by one day! So close, but a nice way to stay festive. Thankfully I was still off work, which meant I could actually go out and enjoy it, without having to worry about the commute.

I didn't take any chances and wrapped up in plenty of layers. I'm liking this whole 'knee high boots & longer dresses thaang', so I thought that'd be the perfect way to keep cosy. I think it looks better with heeled boots, but there was no way I was risking that. Plus I'd have looked like a total fruit bat. Accessories wise I went for the extra snuggly ones. The scarf wraps round like a huge blanket and that hat is just my current favourite.

Right, I'm off.. Mainly because I currently struggle to come on the internet without wanting to do some more sales shopping. Staaahhp Lydia!
