VIDEO: GET READY WITH ME

Finally got round to filming another video! Even though I don't get much chance to do the whole YouTube thing properly, I am actually enjoying it more these days. The shorter videos work a lot better for me.. Uploading an 8 minute video with my wifi is a nightmare, plus it's easier for me to edit and actually get on with what I'm doing.

This look is from last weekend, when I had a bit of time to do my makeup & record what I was doing. It's not too fussy, but a bit more than I'd usually bother with on a week day. I mainly wanted to fit that dress in there. I got it from Forever 21 (shock horror) the other week.. It was only £15 so I decided I could justify an online order. I've had a hunt for a link for it but it may have gone out of stock.. You guys may be better at the shopping search than I am though. All other details are in the video below!

SHIRT DRESS

Shirt Dress - Forever 21, Boots - Boohoo
I'm a bit of a walking Forever 21 wardrobe at the minute. It's been my go-to recently so an overload of F21 outfit features has been unavoidable. I've just ordered a couple of new bits for A/W from there.. The new stuff is just my sort of thing! I'm thinking of doing a bit of a haul with new season stuff, mostly because it's got me a tiny bit excited for layering up in autumnal shades. I'll try follow it up with an A/W Look Book.. better get my YouTube act together sharpish.

Back to the outfit. The shirt dress I bought to wear for work with some grey trousers, but I'm making the most of it with bare legs on a day off. The boots are a pair of old faithfuls, the ones I go for when I need a bit more height. I don't very often go for proper heels.. I just find a boot alternative easier to deal with. As the clumsiest of clumsy folk I need all the help I can get.

NEW IN: THE MAC MATTE LIP

MAC Matte Lipstick in Stone & Whirl

Hearing about The Matte Lip collection from MAC was probably the most excited I've been about a MAC collection for ages. It's not that there hasn't been some lovely ones in recent years, I just guess I'm more of a stick to what you know sort of person these days - when it comes to spending 50 odd quid on makeup anyway (think of all the M&S lunches I could buy with that..). I prefer matte lipsticks on me, so when The Matte Lip arrived online I ordered before we had the whole Whirl Lip Liner debacle where you're waiting 6 months for it to come back in stock. I did my big blog stalk (praise the Lord for Temptalia) before I settled on the two I'd limited myself to. I wanted to try Whirl just to see what the lipstick version was like, and Stone was something different I thought I'd give a bash.

So far I'm really liking both. I've always been a fan of MAC matte lippies anyway.. They're creamy, the colour pay off is good and I don't find there are many good, matte alternatives from other brands. Whirl is a really wearable dusky pink that I know I'll wear a lot. It's still neutral, but gives you plenty of colour so you don't feel like you're edging on the concealer lips look. I used to just use the lip liner as an all over lip colour, but I guess for longevity it'll be nice to have the two and use the lipstick for touch ups. Stone isn't quite so wearable and probably not to everyone's taste but I really love it. The 'greyish brown' description does pretty much cover it, although I do think it's a colour you can layer up for a more neutral or more brown lip. For me, it's the ultimate 90s inspired lip colour, and while it's not something I'd wear every day it's a really nice one to play around with. I love my nudes, but it's also nice to have a few lipsticks that you can sort of play dress up in and see how you look.. Y'know?

I know I'm going to end up buying another couple of colours from this collection. Antique Velvet is next on my list. I'm starting to feel those Autumn vibes (YUCK) and this one looks like a good egg for next season's lippy.

HIGH NECKS & SLOUCHY TROUSERS

Top - Miss Selfridge, Trousers - H&M, Sandals - Pretty Little Thing

You know when it's a bit of a boring outfit but you just like it and it's comfy and you're happy to spend forever in it? This is that sort of outfit. I was only really wearing this for a bit of comfort around the house but I probably would wear it on a casual day out. Even though a turtle neck isn't really a summer go-to, the short sleeves mean it's not too kind of melting-hot-can't-breathe. I picked it up at the start of the year and it's just my kind of wardrobe staple.

Those trousers I love but I've pretty much worn them out. They're a bit ripped up on the bottom and as a result often leg me up, which does sort of ruin the look. Lol. I can't quite face parting with them until I find a suitable replacement. Those chunky sandals I haven't worn for yonks but they give me a bit of height in these baggy bottoms. Trousers trailing on the floor = short leg problems.

10 BLOG POSTS FOR LAZY BLOGGING DAYS

Blogging does take a lot of effort, and while I enjoy the whole process, I do think there are days when you just don't feel 'blog ready'. By that I mean the sort of days when you kind of want to write a blog post but also kind of want to sit in pyjamas all day eating last night's left over pizza. With work, life and blogging to manage I still like to squeeze in these odd lazy days. While these aren't lazy blog posts (they can involve as much or little effort as you want..), I do think they're good 'uns for days when you'd rather blog without having to feature yourself/move from the settee.

1. Outfit Layouts
This is my favourite when I'm feeling the fashion sort of thing but don't actually want to get dressed. Lol.. I'm forever taking these then editing out my slippers that have snuck into the bottom of the shot. Glamorous. If you're just not up for taking a whole load of pictures of yourself then this is a good option and you can plan a few your outfits ahead while you're at it.

2. Collections
Shoes, matte lipsticks, favourite books.. You know what I mean. I'm up for a duvet day, talking what lip colours I love and watching 5 seasons of a show on Netflix.

3. Accessory Details
I like details posts, even though they're generally shorter and more to the point. Sometimes I find things get lost in posts that have lots going on, so if it's worth a post of its own then I'll do that. I can take a quick picture of fancy new shoes or some jewellery pieces without even having a change out of my comfies. Marvellous.

4. What's In My Bag
Because some of us are just nosey and want to see what's going on in folk's handbags alongside the apocalypse worthy supply of rogue tampons and screwed up receipts. It might not be of interest to everyone, but I've come across a lot of handbag essentials from these posts.

5. Inspiration Posts
This is one I'm going to save for my next lazy blogging day.. When I spend half my life procrastinating on Pinterest I might as well do a blog about what inspo I'm stocking up on. It's easy to run out of ideas with blogging (well, I hope it is.. 'cause I do), so getting re-inspired is always fun.

6. Blog Love
One I definitely want to do. I love a bit of blog positivity and it's always nice to pass 'feel good' vibes on. This one you can do from the comfort of your own bed, whilst having a major blog stalk.

7. Instagram Round Ups
I guess not everyone who's into reading blogs is that obsessed with Instagram, and vice versa. My Instagram is mostly little bits and bobs that never really get covered on here - different outfits, quick snaps of a nice lunch out, that sort of thing, so I think if you've got a bit more to say about something it's worth sticking in a post. It's one of those quick and easy posts but also quite personal.

8. Wish Lists
UGH. I try not to do these that often mostly because they lead to me excessively spending or getting the grumps on when I can't afford that mega skirt I've just spent the last half an hour lusting over. Online window shopping turned into a blog post doesn't take a huge amount of time but I always think these are nice posts to flick through. The minute I start reading one of these blog posts my bank balance has a nervy b.

9. Recent Favourites
Roll out of bed, gather all your recent loves together and wham, bam, thank 'ya mam.. That's a blog post pretty much sorted. Well, not quite.. But I find yakking on about things I've really been loving is a lot easier than trying to talk about that pair of black jeans that I wear in every other post.

10. Lazy Day Essentials
Yeah, the shot of me in Hello Kitty PJs probably won't be included, but the other behind the scenes bits and bobs can be squished together for a lifestyle post. For me it'd mostly be fluffy socks, Kettle Chips and The Breakfast Club.

WEARING ALL WHITE

Shirt - Charity Shop, Skirt - Topshop, Converse - USC

I've done these skirts to death, haven't I? They've featured in videos, outfit posts and Instagram snaps. I bought both the black and white version within a week or so of each other as I decided they were the sort of basics that I needed. I didn't really have a go-to skirt in my wardrobe.. I guess skirts aren't really my thing as although I like them, I do find them a little more difficult to wear. You have to have that whole 'do I or don't I wear tights' debate.. Which only comes after you've considered whether your legs have been in sight of a razor for the last few weeks (relaxing the beauty regime is about the only thing I'm looking forward to about winter..). For now I'm still braving bare legs rain or shine. Stuff you British weather, this is the best my legs are going to look all year and I ain't hiding them away because you've decided to piss it down.

The rest of what I'm wearing is all kind of old stuff I've had lurking in my wardrobe for a while. The Converse should probably be described as 'white a long time ago' but they're much loved. Even though they're now a bit battered I think I can still get a couple more years out of them.. Perhaps after they've had a dunk in the wash.

So that's all for another summery look. Nothing fancy as per. I'm off now to go give kitten bobs Ava some attention.. This post has taken forever to write because apparently me typing makes my hands way too easy to attack. She's not quite so interested in blogging.

MONOCHROME BIKINI

Bikini - c/o Simply Beach

I think I've almost made it through everything holiday related, with this bikini being one I've saved until towards the end as it is a special one. Most of my bikinis are pretty inexpensive for holiday - I end up buying way too many so if they were all extra swish I'd be needing to sell a kidney.. But oh how it's lovely to have one that does feel a bit fancy pants. I got this Seafolly one from Simply Beach, and while it is a little more expensive than I'm used to, it's worth it for the quality. It fits perfect (I went for an 8 top and 10 bottom, always in need of a little extra room on the bottom half) and it's sturdy. By that I mean that it's not that flimsy sort of fabric that leaves things feeling like they aren't in place.. With a bikini I want as much sucking in and support as I get with undies, if not more! The top has a bit of padding (thank the Lord for that) and I think the bottoms are quite a flattering fit.. Plus the cut outs are cute without leaving tan lines that look too ridiculous.

Time to head off as I've spent too long looking at holiday related pictures and wondering how the heck I was ever there.. It feels like such a long time ago! I love summer, but I'll be somewhat glad when the holiday envy season dies down!

WARDROBE FAVOURITE: THE BLACK PLAYSUIT

Jacket - Topshop, Playsuit - Forever 21, Boots - Deichmann

I could wear this sort of outfit all the time. All black, boots (my favourite) and something extra baggy that doesn't make me feel like a little boy. I only ever really bought this playsuit to wear on the beach, which I did.. but I've been loving it since I got home too. I can wear it like the bridge between pyjamas and normal clothes - I don't have to stick a bra on, I feel like I'm properly dressed but it's also really comfy. It also hangs nice, so there's none of that feeling uncomfortable business when you've ate too much Mexican food.

I took these pictures before I popped out over the weekend so I had actually made an effort with all the beauty stuffs. Actual lipstick rather than lip balm, hair properly curled and I'd also lathered up on the fake tan. My holiday tan has all but peeled off (cry..), so I've been topping it up with the fake stuff. I'm going to refuse to wear tights until at least October, so I've got to maximise how long my legs can be seen in public.  Can we just pause summer now and all stay bronzed and holiday refreshed and sport beachy hair forever please?

FLORAL DETAILS

Floral Crown - The Bubble Garden, Necklace - H&M

So it's just an extra quick, 'probably doesn't warrant it's own blog post' post today.. Sometimes in-between doing blog bits & bobs I do take a few snaps that don't really fit anywhere. Not an outfit post, not really a full beauty thaaang, but still something that I think is worth talking about. Today, it's floral crowns. I had a thing for them when there was the original bandwagon to jump on, but I think I'm now back to really feeling the floral love. Maybe it's because it summer, and anything like this over these months seems to amplify summer vibes?! That and I love anything I can work in with a braid. I'm thinking this with a simple, chunky plait?

This one my mum picked up for me at Tatton Park the other week. It was from a little independent stall and my mum did get it with blog pictures in mind.. She's a good egg for finding little bits for me on her travels that I can slot into a blog post. It's such a pretty mixture of colours and kind of wild looking - like flowers you see popping up in fields.

I'm starting to sound like I'm writing a Mills & Boon novel so I'm going to get off. I've got blog pictures to take, a kitten to cuddle and at some point Chinese food to eat. Big love for Saturdays.

BEACH VIBES

Sunglasses - Quay Australia, Two Piece - c/o USC, Crochet Bikini - eBay, Birkenstocks, Ring - Skiathos purchase

So I did post about this USC two piece a while back, but it's so much better in a summery setting, over a bikini with some (scruffy looking) beach hair. I don't dress too fancy on the beach, it's more a decent bikini and sunglasses that won't mean I'm a squinty squintster. It is nice though to have something cute & matchy-matchy to cover up in.

On the accessories front it's the bare minimum. Birkenstocks are pretty much all I wear during the day on holiday. They're super duper comfy and while their time was probably last year, for me I still think they're an essential. Those sunglasses are my favourites from Quay. I keep meaning to get the black pair seen as I'm always drawn to the monochrome version of anything. Meh. Annnnd lastly the ring. It was one I picked up in a cute shop in Skiathos - they actually have some really nice stores that don't just have the usual touristy stuff (not that I don't pick up the usual Skiathos keyring memento..). I've mentioned before that I'm trying to get a good ring collection together so this one is a nice addition!

PURPLE ALL IN ONE

Necklace - H&M, Jumpsuit - Forever 21, Bag - New Look, Sandals - Primark

Hey heyyyy to some colour in my life! It’s about time. I braved stepping out of monochrome when I did my big Forever 21 holiday haul. Even though it is more colourful than I usually go for, it’s still not too ‘out there’ for me. I wore it on holiday and I've worn it since I got home on a warmer day. I just like that it feels quite put together and casual at the same time. I think that's the thing about jumpsuits (I've bought bloody loads recently).. It's just one thing and you feel like your outfit is pretty much done. Lazy dressing, but definitely my kind of thing. The legs on this one are sheer so it's loverrrrly for making the most of the end of summer.

Accessories wise we ain't too fussy. A random little necklace and my Pandora favourites - I've recently treated myself and made the most of their three for two offer on rings. Didn't really need three new rings, but I'm a sucker for a deal. Plus I've had enough of walking around with the green stains you can get with the cheap stuff. My bag is one I picked up on a whim from New Look - I needed an evening bag for my hols and this one was big enough to fit all my ridiculous necessities without looking too silly. It actually goes with quite a lot so I'm glad I went for it.

VIDEO: AUGUST LOOKBOOK

Well I've gotta say I was hoping my August Lookbook would be a whole lot more summery. It hasn't been bad this weekend, but yeah, not much chance of me getting the shorts on. I feel like I moan about the weather a lot on here at the minute.. Lol. I'm going to shut up.

Lookbook wise I quite liked filming the last one, so thought I'd pop one up for this month. It is super short, but I kind of prefer that sort of thing (my Internet connection does anyway.. the times I've had 'share failed' on anything over 5 minutes) and I think I've covered everything. All the details are in the description, plus quite a few of the items I'm wearing are new so you should be able to still get hold of them!

THE NEON BIKINI

Bikini - H&M, Sunglasses - New Look

Scrap everything else I'm supposed to be talking about. That boat has a freaking slide on it. A slide. Oh how the other half lives! Me & my ma spent a good portion of the morning discussing who could be on it.. There are usually a few glam looking yachts around the beaches in Skiathos and I love being able to speculate about what these fancy folk are up to. It's probably a little bit sad, but if you are a bit of a people watcher then it's a good one.

Aaaand I've gone off on a tangent. Although there isn't much I can say about this bikini other than it's pretty and it's nice and I like it. It's one I saw last minute and really didn't need to buy (I ended up with more than one bikini a day.. WHY), but I thought it'd do me good to get something bright in my life. Just about all of my other bikinis were black or white. I saved this for the last day when I was as tanned as I'd ever get and feeling a little more confident about popping on something so colourful.. It does also fit really comfortably so that helped! There's a bit of a Hervé Léger bodycon dress vibe going on which is possibly a bit old hat, but I still think it's pretty flattering and feminine.

STRIPED JUMPSUIT

Jumpsuit - Forever 21, Sandals - Office

This was one of my favourite holiday outfits. You know the 'ooh I'll save that for the last night' sort of look. Plus I decided I had white bits I needed to tan up before I dare flash them - this is backless, so it was a braving braless job. Back home I wouldn't really risk it, but on holiday it just feels like you can get away with so much more (as long as you keep an eye on the gals).

Anyway, the jumpsuit was one I picked up in a big holiday haul from Forever 21. Most of my evening outfits were from there - I always like their stuff and it's cheap enough to not feel too bad if they do only get worn on holiday (I'm trying to get some wear out of some bits now I'm back but the weather ain't quite Greece heat). This one I'll hopefully save for an evening out.. I just love the fit and the navy makes a nice change. Ugh, I wish I could wear holiday outfits forever!
