BLUE BOY JEANS

Wanna know what I was actually up to here? Stood outside a bed shop buying a mattress. Ha. A glamorous blogging life would be nice, but 90% of the time it’s just me finding some random wall while I’m out running errands. Also, why are mattresses so expensive?! Not okay with being a grown up.

What I’m wearing here felt appropriate for mooching about house shopping… It was slouchy Sunday after all. Generally, I wear the most relaxed item I can get away with on a Sunday – hence why I’m wearing the laziest looking boy jeans. I bloody love these, even though they’re old. They’re comfortable, and I’ve also got no idea what size they are. I can pretend they’re an 8 and I’m just tiiiiny and they’re hanging off me. LOL. Reality is they’re probably a 14 or something, but a girl can pretend!

That jacket is also the oldie. I’ve already added a new leather jacket to my mental Christmas list as this one has definitely had it, but I do still like it in its own bashed up way. Scuffed up leather has a place in my heart.

SHIRT DRESS AND SANDALS

Right up there with that Topshop floral tea dress, this is one of my favourite summer purchases. I picked it up a few weeks ago at ZARA – it was only £20 so definitely one to keep your eyes peeled for! It wasn’t a planned outfit choice, but I ended up wearing it for Tramlines, Sheffield’s answer to Glasto. I’d gone with the whole shorts & baggy shirt the day before so I was ready to get back to girly vibes… Although I did end up wearing it with ankle boots. Comforrrt for traipsing round town!

I love the little boxy shirt fit – it’s not one I normally go for, but it feels smart-ish. Well, as smart as butt skimming dresses can ever be, but I like that combo all the same. I usually opt for anything that’ll synch in my waist, but it was nice to wear something that meant I could eat as much mac and cheese as possible, without food baby worries. Liiiife.

NIGHT OUT HANDBAG ESSENTIALS

Alongside the usual cash, phone & ID (praise the Lord if somebody wants to ID this grandma), my bag on evenings out is usually jam-packed. The fact that I can cut its contents down to a clutch bag’s worth is an achievement in itself. I’m not much of a party girl, but I’ve had a few evenings out in the diary recently that have meant I’ve perfected my ‘going out bag’. Basically this means I’ve sussed out what makeup products are essential for me not looking like a troll by 3am.

So, with makeup I tend to go cheap. Nobody’s got time for losing that Chanel lipstick. Nada. Recently I’ve been using a lot of NYX products anyway, so that works out well! The liquid lipstick in Sandstorm is my favourite taupe-y nude and although it’s matte it doesn’t wear off in too much of a state.

A shine fixing powder is something I always take out with me for tackling sticky clubs. This HD Finishing Powder is one I use daily as it gets rid of any oily areas and fuzzes out pores. I’ve gone on about it quite a lot already, but I do think it’s really good value. That Real Techiques brush also comes along with me as it works well for buffing it in.

The last makeup item that gets lobbed in my bag is anything with a mirror – right now I’ve been going for Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator, as it’s a current beauty love. It’s the dreamiest highlight and helps bring back dimension to my complexion when I’ve gone all out with the matte powder. It’s just one I’ve got to go easy on… Tipsy tin foil face is not a good look for me.

A last couple of essentials are actually my usuals – hand sanitizer and perfume. Even when merry my OCD is still on top form, so I’ll be hand sanitizing my way round any bar crawl. With perfume I’ve been going for Noir by The White Company. It’s a handy size for my handbag and a feminine, creamy fragrance.

Annnd that’s me done. Just pray that the ABH Highlighter is coming home with me.

SHEER LAYERS

I’m already struggling to deal with summer being on its last legs. I don’t mind when it’s done and we’re into full blown winter, but this bit where you know you’re making the most of the last few sunny days makes me grumpy. Right now I’m enjoying what’s left of it with some summer layers – sheer fabrics & the odd bralet flash. I wore this on a pretty casual night out, so I didn’t feel quite so nuddy – I ended up hoisting up those trousers Simon Cowell style to avoid showing all my tum!

The trousers I know I’ll carry on wearing into the autumn and beyond. They’re those ones from Topshop that we’ve all gone a bit mad for, but I do think they’re a good black bottoms alternative. Anything to get me out of my ripped up skinny jeans is a good thing! I’ve also got the floor length version of these pleated favourites… I actually prefer them with this dress – they feel very noughties and like I could be a backing dancer for Liberty X.

LITTLE RED DRESS

So this little tea dress quickly became the blogger's fave, didn't it?! I can definitely see why. It's a really flattering fit that seems to work well on loads of different shapes. As quite a petite person, I love something girly like this. The tie waist works well for me too - I'm always about something that pulls in my waist and skims over my hips... Anything to distract from my rather ample bottom half!

I actually got this for a night out and wore it with these boots - I've no time for wibbly-wobbly heels these days. While I've seen this dress plenty in the blogosphere, I've not seen as much of it up in Sheffield. Flouncy little numbers like this are my favourite for evenings out, so it felt like a good purchase for girls night... I managed to justify the spend anyway, as I know I can wear it during the daytime too.

Right, slobby Sunday awaits. I've spent the day stripping the house, so Netflix, chocolate & a duvet it is!

THE ONE PIECE

I like me a onesie… I guess anything that feels like a comfy, adult sized baby grow is going to be up my street. Comfort always comes first! This one I picked up a few weeks ago, something I went for as a smart/casual option. I’d probably be more inclined to wear it with heeled boots, but right now I’m living in my Dr. Martens sandals. I love the overly chunky style, and I can spend a full day in them without crippling my feet. Confession – I wore them all day whilst stripping wallpaper. Thankfully, they survived the ordeal.

I can’t wait to soon give you a house update. At the minute it’s all pretty ugly, but I know I’ll get there eventually! I’m sure there’ll be tearful ‘why didn’t I buy a new build?!’ moments along the way… Although hopefully not too many! I really can’t wait to get things sorted and get into a new routine.

HOLIDAY CASUALS

Sunglasses - Celine / Jumpsuit - Boohoo / Snadals - New Look
I think this jumpsuit was probably one of my favourite things on holiday, mostly because it pretty much feels like I'm wearing nothing. It's such a relaxed fit in an extra light fabric, just what I'm after when it comes to warmer temperatures. I could live quite happily in this sort of thing... Gimme hippy vibes any day of the week.

I've still got a few other holiday outfits to show you, but I think I'm going to just stick to the main ones - this year I really tried to enjoy things more, rather than seeing it as an opportunity to stock up on blog content. I also kept my suitcase (semi) minimal - I got so sick of hearing myself saying 'I'm not taking all that next year I've hardly worn any of it' that I actually practised what I was preaching. Basics are the way forward.

LOOK AGAIN A/W COLLECTION PICKS

Following super summery styles, I’m all ready to update my wardrobe with some new pieces! Look Again have just launched two new collections, so it’s perfect timing for picking out some faves. With a new range from Laura Scott and another from Stacey Solomon, I’m sharing my picks for AW16.

First up, some newbies from Laura Scott’s latest range, with Vogue Williams the new face of the collection. Made up of wearable pieces that embody timeless classics, I’m really into these simple, monochrome styles. Any of these pieces would slot in good with my wardrobe basics and are definitely the sort of thing I’d wear day to day!

A favourite has to be the 2 in 1 Top, something I’d wear dressed down with the tassel tote bag. Larrrvely. The trousers are also on my wish list – just right for dressing up on an evening out, or going casual with white trainers.

Hey heyyyy to sparkles! The next three pieces I’ve gone for are from Stacey Solomon’s third collection with Look Again. Working with some of the season’s key trends, the pieces all slot in well for work, days off and evening events. I’ve gone with some party favourites - a bit of glitter and some embellishments. A two piece is my go-to for nights out and this one feels extra party-fied. The little crop top is just my sort of thing too, a really good one for pairing with black jeans.

Lookagain.co.uk has all these new bits online, with both collections all set for AW16!
