CASUAL DRESSING | WEEKEND MONOCHROME

Image
When it comes to casual dressing, for me it’s a three-point thing. Flats, extra comfy bottoms and a slouchy bag to lug about all my crap in. On days off, this is exactly the kind of thing I go for. Something I can slob about in without feeling like a total scruff... I tend to go for monochrome to smarten things up a little, I just think it feels more like a put together version of comfy casuals!  Comfy Bottoms Leggings as trousers isn’t something I regularly sport out of the house (in the house it’s a different story – I live my life in leggings) but when it comes to those CBA days they’re my first choice, as long as they’re suitably suck-y in-y. I usually pair them with something that covers up my ass – I’m not quite brave enough to go all out with the leggings & crop top combo. That tends to mean a slouchy top, but as I had my rucksack here I thought I could get away with it. It's all about the comfort, both in not feeling like I'm wearing restricti...

H&M FALL IN LOVE: WEARING CONFIDENCE

Image
In celebration of the new Fall Fashion collection for H&M, today I’m styling up a couple of bits from the 70s glam inspired range. The campaign, #HMFallinLove , aims to inspire you by the fall love story – what really makes you fall in love with Fall. For me, alongside cosy evenings, layering up in knits and carving pumpkins, it’s also that I find fall is a great time to build on confidence, especially in terms of style. With summer pressures for a beach bod and legs that look amazing in short shorts out the window, I feel much more at ease heading into A/W dressing. With that, I’m sharing a few of my favourite ways to fall in love with fall through wearing confidence.   Take baby steps. Yeah, sometimes ‘out there’ fashion choices can work great but if you really need to up your confidence then a look completely out of your comfort zone may be a step too far. For the look above I went for short lace up boots, but eventually I’ll brave some thigh highs...

GREIGE

Image
Sunglasses - Primark, Coat - H&M, Top - Primark, Trousers - ZARA, Boots - Forever 21 I guess what I'm wearing here is a pretty similar look to the last outfit I wore with this coat, but I liked that whole grey and beige mix. This time round the grey part of what I'm wearing is purely comfort. Without that bit of heel on my boots and the coat to smarten things up it does kind of look like lounge wear, but it was a Sunday and slouchy clothing called! I've also got to that mid season awkwardness where knowing how to dress weather appropriate has completely gone out the window. I'm still stuck in chunky scarves and knitwear even though it's probably time for a Spring update. CASUAL CAMEL

Image
Scarf - H&M, Coat - c/o Boohoo , Turtle Neck - c/o Miss Selfridge , Leggings - H&M, Converse - USC I'm typing this up sat in a t-shirt and culottes hoping this is my last real wintery looking outfit. Spring seems to have sprung over the last few days and oh how it's nice to not have to think about extra layers and tights and thick jumpers. I love A/W fashion, but I'm definitely ready for something a little lighter.  Here I was dressed for a  significantly  colder day - while I risked bare arms for indoors I couldn't quite step away from my big dressing gown esq. coat. Now it has warmed up a bit I'd probably switch this up for my much lighter black trench.. It's still not very spring like but I'm not quite ready for florals and pastels yet.  The leggings I'm wearing here don't look much, but I've just bought the matching top that is currently my dream outfit. I'll have an outfit post with it up soon - I wore it on this ...

JUMPER DRESS & KNEE HIGHS

Image
Jumper - H&M, Belt - Forever 21 , Boots - I wish I could remember but they're about 4 years old.. Boohoo do similar! :)  Y'know that feeling when you see something fabulous in H&M for a really good price? It's a good one. There aren't many other places I go to where I see something I love and get excited because I can actually afford it.. I love Zara and Topshop as much as the next gal, my bank balance on the other hand doesn't. One day I'm going to walk into that sort of shop and be able to buy whatever I want, but for now H&M will continue to be my favourite shopping spot. That little ramble relates to this jumper dress. Really comfy, a nice soft knit (can't be dealing with anything scratchy) and the perfect length for wearing with knee high boots.. It's not quite as short as it looks here, in reality it's the sort that you don't worry about flashing your bum in. When I realised it was only £14.99 I was indeed a happy b...

SHIRT & SHORTS

Image
Scarf - Boohoo, Shirt - Zara, Shorts - Charity Shop, Coat - H&M, Boots - Forever 21 I'm keeping this short and sweet, mainly because this  outfit is in my A/W Lookbook  and I'm also wearing stuff I've talked about plenty of times before. I guess my wardrobe is a bit samey but you can only have so many clothes right?! Don't get me wrong, I probably spend more than I should on clothes, but I still have favourites that I always go back to.  I'm just kind of comfy here. Lots of layers, nothing too tight or smart. This was the outfit I ended up spending the rest of the day in after filming.. I was just off to town and it seemed alright for the current weather sitch - autumnal but definitely not freeze 'ya nips off cold. While I'm managing without tights I usually go for this coat - it covers me up a bit so I don't feel too much like I'm thinking it's still the summer.  youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  ...

CREAM KNIT & PATENT

Image
Jacket - H&M, Vest Top - Primark, Ring - H&M, Skirt - Topshop I don't even know if I'll end up wearing this skirt this winter. I lusted over it for a good while before buying it peak chilly season, yet I've only managed to wear it a few times. I think the thing is, I'm going to hate it with tights (the god awful things..). Yep, there are some things that tights do look good with, but I'm not sure about them with this. Hence why I'm wearing it now. There's still a tiny bit of time to get away with getting my legs out, yet we're dabbling with A/W appropriate wardrobes. So, I think from that, I've concluded that this little skirt is a September skirt. For me to wear with chunky heels or big boots and avoid tights altogether while the weather is still okay. Today I just wore it with a basic vest and my much worn H&M knit jacket. Shoes wise I was undecided at this point, but I did eventually go for cut out boots. I think I'll alw...

DAISIES & DAY TRIPS

Image
Jacket - H&M, Dress - c/o Yayer , Boots - c/o Forever 21 This is the closest I'll get to the seaside for a while, but it's a cute place all the same. If there's a chance to people watch then I'm game. I wasn't wearing anything fancy today (nor was I looking fancy, really should have gone for more than a quick blast of dry shampoo when it came to my hair..), but I thought I'd post these snaps up seen as it might be one of the last shots where I've got my legs out. I'm still making the most of this last bit of warmish weather.. A mini Indian summer would be fine with me. The dress is one I got at the start of the summer. It's just one of those girly skater styles that I always go for when I don't want to think too much about what I'm wearing.. Can't go wrong in a skater skirt right?! It was a tad nippy so my old H&M jacket kept the chill out.. I always love this 'cause it's a bit like an alternative to a biker ...

CREAM CARDIGAN & MINI DRESS

Image
Necklace - Skiathos, Dress - Charity Shop, Cardigan - H&M, Belt - Primark, Boots - Forever 21 Currently, life is one big opportunity to get my legs out for a final few times before it's too chilly. I miss that about summer so much.. It's such a pain having to constantly think if tights go with an outfit or not. Yep, there's definitely an air of 'first world problems' going on here, but you know what I mean. Tights are boring .  I've just got a little charity shop dress on today with a really cheap, comfy cardigan from H&M. The dress reminds me of something much fancier from American Apparel - pretty basic but a good fit. Not bad for £3 eh?!  youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  /  pinterest  /  tumblr  /  instagram x

JACK WILLS STYLE TRIBES: CHELSEA SKATER

Image
Dress & Shirt - c/o Jack Wills , Socks - H&M, Boots - Dr. Martens I love it when sites fetch out their A/W style ideas - it's the kind of inspo you need when you're beginning to sort through your woolies and just end up thinking that you're going to spend the next 6 months dressed like the Michelin man.  This year, Jack Wills  have  come up with their 'Style Tribes' - a load of outfit options for different styles. I went for   Chelsea Skater Girl  - mainly because it's that grunge/girly style that I'm always a fan of. Plus, that style included a lot of  tartan.. A/W for me is forever about tartan. I popped the matchy-matchy shirt/dress combo with my favourite old Dr. Martens just because they can stop anything being too girly. I haven't worn them for ages, but I still go back to them over A/W for a comfortable boot that I know I can wear with just about anything.  Head over to the Jack Wills Style T...

FLORAL SHORTS & TASSELS

Image
Hat - H&M, Jacket - c/o Missguided , Top - Forever 21, Shorts - c/o Missguided , Boots - Forever 21 Well this is as summery as it's going to get now - oh how I'm going to miss not having to worry whether or not tights look okay with an outfit! I really take for granted being able to get my legs out over the sunny season.. I love spending my life rolling about in shorts & little dresses - definitely need to move to LA or somewhere suitably hot & fabulous. The shorts I'm wearing today are a pair I got at the start of the summer - they come with a matching top that makes a dreamy matchy-matchy combo. Today I've just worn them with a Missguided jacket I got a while back. It's my 'one day I shall take you to a festival' jacket. It's made for a weekend of music and sunshine, not my back garden. youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  /  pinterest  /  tumblr  /  instagram x

SLOUCHY VEST

Image
Tikka - c/o La Moda , Coat - H&M, Vest - Zara, Shorts (just seen) - Levi's, Boots - Forever 21 I'm not sure I can really pull this kind of thing off. I totally freakin' love this little glitzy head thing, but I just wish I was a little bit cooler for it. It's made for the Rat & Boa kind of girl who has a much more exciting life than I do. The most excitement I get is a trip to Ikea, not a weekend at a festival or in Beeefa. Anyhoo, my lack of excitement in life doesn't at all relate to how cute these La Moda headpieces are. I just wish I had a fancy pants place to wear one to! Seen as it is such sparkly little thing, I just decided to pop a lazy day outfit with it. Who doesn't love a  slouchy vest on their day off? I've worn this one from Zara so much - it's a size too big but that makes it extra perfect. It just doubles the comfy factor.  youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  /  pinterest  /  tumblr  /  i...

PAISLEY TOP & WHITE SHORTS

Image
Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Kimono - H&M, Top - c/o Missguided , Shorts - Primark, Flip Flops - Primark I told you I managed to be quite good at packing 'mix&match' holiday gear - is this the second post with this neon kimono now?! I mainly popped it in my case to avoid wearing all monochrome outfits, although I did still opt for the black & white thaaang more than regularly.  Have I blogged about this little vest top yet? It's nothing fancy, just quite a cheap one from Missguided but I do indeedy like it. I guess it's just a less boring take on the usual, boring black or white top I go for.  I do believe this is the end of the holiday outfits - hopefully it's not been too boring for everyone, I know I've dragged it out beyond belief but it's rare that I get somewhere different to take pictures. On another unrelated note, I am now working full time (yup, I'm officially a grown up and it's bloody scary), which means life is ob...
