5 RECENT BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Image
It's been a good while since I had chance to do a beauty update. I don't change things up that often, but since my last favourites post I've found a few products that have become a part of my everyday routine. I think it's because I've been trying to mix my brands up a little - normally I just go for the same old stuff from the same old companies! NYX coming to the UK has made my bank account suffer, and I've also been stocking up on a few American beauty newbies via Beauty Bay. Even in the most rushed mornings (I've perfected a messy makeup routine to 5 minutes...) I end up using all these products.  Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting Spray Me and setting sprays are a bit iffy. Sometimes I just don't find they 'do' that much. I was even a little dissapointed with the Urban Decay one. The thing is, I've got oil slick skin. In a few hours I can look like I've got no base makeup on, so really any product like this is fighting ...

NIGHT OUT HANDBAG ESSENTIALS

Image
Alongside the usual cash, phone & ID (praise the Lord if somebody wants to ID this grandma), my bag on evenings out is usually jam-packed. The fact that I can cut its contents down to a clutch bag’s worth is an achievement in itself. I’m not much of a party girl, but I’ve had a few evenings out in the diary recently that have meant I’ve perfected my ‘going out bag’. Basically this means I’ve sussed out what makeup products are essential for me not looking like a troll by 3am. So, with makeup I tend to go cheap. Nobody’s got time for losing that Chanel lipstick. Nada. Recently I’ve been using a lot of NYX products anyway, so that works out well! The liquid lipstick in Sandstorm is my favourite taupe-y nude and although it’s matte it doesn’t wear off in too much of a state. A shine fixing powder is something I always take out with me for tackling sticky clubs. This HD Finishing Powder is one I use daily as it gets rid of any oily areas and fuzzes out pores. I’ve gone ...

NEW IN | NYX BASE MAKEUP

After having an initial NYX splurge when a stand opened in Boots Meadowhall, I’d managed to create another wish list of bits I needed to try. Thankfully, I didn’t go too mad this time, sticking to three base products. NYX is quickly becoming my go-to for good value makeup, plus the range is whopping. I always get way too enthusiastic picking things out! HD Finishing Powder This I’ve actually used the most so far. I’ve managed without a pressed powder for so long… It was definitely time to invest in something to tackle the T-zone! In the hope of avoiding anything cakey I went for this translucent option. Up to now, I’ve loved this powder. It’s really light, gets rid of any shiny bits and just seems to blur everything out nicely. I know there are a couple of other shades in this so I’m definitely going to check those out too! HD Photogenic Concealer Both concealer options I went for were based on the fact I lo...
