THE PINAFORE DRESS

Image
I'd been wanting to add a pinafore dress to my life for A/W, so when I this one in H&M I knew it'd be a worthy investment. To me, they're a real classic for the season... I probably feel like that because they're the sort of thing I wore way back in the 90s when my mum still picked my outfits! She loved a pinafore and patterned tights combo. This one feels like a grown up version with the V neck and mid thigh skimming length.  The other reason I love a pinafore dress is because they're faaab for layering. I know this will be my favourite choice for pairing with turtle necks (and we all know how I feel about a turtle neck!). For now, I've been baring my legs in this, but I think it'll still be cute with thick, opaque tights. Yes, two-pair-of-tights-season may well be coming, but I'm not ready to embrace it quite yet!  Shirt, Pinafore Dress & Bag - H&M / Boots - ZARA SHOP THE POST JavaScript is currently disabled i...

SHIRT DRESS AND SANDALS

Image
Right up there with that Topshop floral tea dress, this is one of my favourite summer purchases. I picked it up a few weeks ago at ZARA – it was only £20 so definitely one to keep your eyes peeled for! It wasn’t a planned outfit choice, but I ended up wearing it for Tramlines, Sheffield’s answer to Glasto. I’d gone with the whole shorts & baggy shirt the day before so I was ready to get back to girly vibes… Although I did end up wearing it with ankle boots. Comforrrt for traipsing round town!    I love the little boxy shirt fit – it’s not one I normally go for, but it feels smart-ish. Well, as smart as butt skimming dresses can ever be, but I like that combo all the same. I usually opt for anything that’ll synch in my waist, but it was nice to wear something that meant I could eat as much mac and cheese as possible, without food baby worries. Liiiife. THE FAVOURITE COMBO | WHITE SHIRT & BLACK JEANS

Image
When we’re talking wardrobe essentials, it’s the white shirt and black jeans that top all basics for me. It’s a combination that has saved me from many a ‘what the fudge am I wearing’ occasion, as well as being favourites worn separately. I wear shirts like this for both days off and work, while black jeans I can pretty much live out my days in. It’s no fuss outfits like this that I love. Big time.  Almost everything I’m wearing here was from Next , picked out for a cute pub meal the evening before Ascot. I was so thankful for having gone oversized with the shirt… The best option for hiding a pub grub food baby. It’s extra slouchy and light, so I’m thinking of packing it up for my holidays to wear as a beach cover up.   Time now for me to go crack on with some blog pictures. I’ve been super busy recently with house and general life stuff, so it’s nice to have a bit of self indulgent time to faff about taking pictures of makeup. Ha. I’ll probably be saying thi...

CASUAL DRESSING | WEEKEND MONOCHROME

Image
When it comes to casual dressing, for me it’s a three-point thing. Flats, extra comfy bottoms and a slouchy bag to lug about all my crap in. On days off, this is exactly the kind of thing I go for. Something I can slob about in without feeling like a total scruff... I tend to go for monochrome to smarten things up a little, I just think it feels more like a put together version of comfy casuals!  Comfy Bottoms Leggings as trousers isn’t something I regularly sport out of the house (in the house it’s a different story – I live my life in leggings) but when it comes to those CBA days they’re my first choice, as long as they’re suitably suck-y in-y. I usually pair them with something that covers up my ass – I’m not quite brave enough to go all out with the leggings & crop top combo. That tends to mean a slouchy top, but as I had my rucksack here I thought I could get away with it. It's all about the comfort, both in not feeling like I'm wearing restricti...

SHIRT DRESS

Image
Shirt Dress - Forever 21, Boots - Boohoo I'm a bit of a walking Forever 21 wardrobe at the minute. It's been my go-to recently so an overload of F21 outfit features has been unavoidable. I've just ordered a couple of new bits for A/W from there.. The new stuff is just my sort of thing! I'm thinking of doing a bit of a haul with new season stuff, mostly because it's got me a tiny bit excited for layering up in autumnal shades. I'll try follow it up with an A/W Look Book.. better get my YouTube act together sharpish.  Back to the outfit. The shirt dress I bought to wear for work with some grey trousers, but I'm making the most of it with bare legs on a day off. The boots are a pair of old faithfuls, the ones I go for when I need a bit more height. I don't very often go for proper heels.. I just find a boot alternative easier to deal with. As the clumsiest of clumsy folk I need all the help I can get.  youtube / bloglovin / twitter / fac...

WEARING ALL WHITE

Image
Shirt - Charity Shop, Skirt - Topshop , Converse - USC I've done these skirts to death, haven't I? They've featured in videos, outfit posts and Instagram snaps. I bought both the black and white version within a week or so of each other as I decided they were the sort of basics that I needed. I didn't really have a go-to skirt in my wardrobe.. I guess skirts aren't really my thing as although I like them, I do find them a little more difficult to wear. You have to have that whole 'do I or don't I wear tights' debate.. Which only comes after you've considered whether your legs have been in sight of a razor for the last few weeks (relaxing the beauty regime is about the only thing I'm looking forward to about winter..). For now I'm still braving bare legs rain or shine. Stuff you British weather, this is the best my legs are going to look all year and I ain't hiding them away because you've decided to piss it down.  The r...

EYELASH LACE ROMPER

Image
Playsuit -  c/o Miss Foxy , Bag - Paul's Boutique, Boots - Forever 21 Oh how it’s lovely to be in something suitably summery! The novelty of being able to get my legs out a bit more is yet to wear off. I’m making the most of it in this cute playsuit from Miss Foxy , a new addition to my S/S15 wardrobe. It has a bit of a nightwear vibe going on which is always a winner in my book.. I think this could easily double up as some girly PJs, but also as a floaty and feminine romper on hot days. I think it's probably the eyelash lace that does it - it's such a girlish style and I love how it finishes it all off. All in ones like this are my favourite for this time of year anyway. They still feel summery, yet there’s no chance of flashing your knicks and having a Marilyn moment as you might in a short summer dress. With the playsuit I just went for some black accessories, keeping everything very monochrome (old habits die hard!). That's usually wh...

HIGH WAISTED BASICS

Image
Jacket - Topshop, Shirt - Charity Shop, Jeans - Topshop, Boots - Forever 21 Ooeee bit of a different background. My ma & pa have just done up my brother's bedroom in prep for him coming home from London for a year and while he's still darrrn Saaarth I quickly snuck up to take some snaps. One day I'm going to have this dream boat little house (as dream boat-y as one skint, single gal can afford) with a specific spot for taking blog pictures, but for now I have a few areas at the rents' where I can get snap happy. Gone off on a tangent again haven't I. On the outfit front I was wearing this prior to this riding heatwave. A leather jacket is a no go in sticky hot weather. Normally I would have gone for my black skinny jeans but with trying to look at least a bit summery I went for the white version. The top I'm wearing them with is just tied up so I can flash a teeny bit of flesh. I quite like it as a more casual way to wear a smarter shirt. ...

ALL WHITE

Image
Sunglasses - New Look, Jacket - New Look, Top - Primark, Jeans - Topshop, Boots - Forever 21, Bag - Paul's Boutique Alright, so not completely all white. A little bit of grey & black thrown in there too, along with those chunky New Look sunglasses that I've been harping on about. My ma took these pictures this weekend, just after I got back from Barcelona.. I had this vision that I was going to look like some cool, tanned European chick, but it didn't translate. Boo. I did manage to catch quite a bit of sun though while I was there, hence the white.. Definitely felt a lot more bronzed up whilst wandering round Barcelona, opposed to Sheffield. It's not that I mind being pale, I'm just a bit over it now and ready to feel a tad more summery. I did sling on that New Look jacket as it was a little bit nippy. It's pretty old now, but I always feel it's handy to cling onto for those days when I'm venturing out of my traditional black. Plus ...

DRESS & RIPPED JEANS

Image
Sunglasses - Magazine Freebie, Necklace - Skiathos, Dress - Charity Shop, Jeans - Zara, Boots - Forever 21 My outfit here completely summarises how indecisive I can be. Y'know the 'I wanna wear a dress, but I also wanna wear jeans' kind of days? Yep, one of those. In the end I kind of ended up wearing both. Admittedly, it's a short dress but a dress all the same. I just tucked in so it wasn't too like the 90s trousers with attached skirts trend I remember from way back when.. who else had a pair?! The jeans are ones I've showed you before.. they are getting even more battered every time I wear them though. There's soon going to be more rips than jeans.  youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  /  pinterest  /  tumblr  /  instagram x

CROPPED TROUSERS & CROPPED TEE

Image
Sunglasses, Necklace & Bracelet - Skiathos Town, T-Shirt - Primark, Cropped Trousers - Missguided , Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza Y'know when you buy something basic that becomes the thing you have to stop yourself wearing every single day? That's this tee. Yep, it's nothing special but every time I'm like 'what the fudge am I going to wear today..', I pull out this top, some form of bottoms and hope for the best. I definitely need to pop back to Primark and hunt it down in another colour. Or two.  The cropped trousers are newbies in my wardrobe. I've ended up wearing trousers loads this summer so these are just right for the last few sunny days. Plus they're perfect with my Birkenstocks. Oh it will be a sad day when the it's too cold to wear shoes that feel almost as comfy as slippers. Chunky boots just aren't the same.  youtube  /  bloglovin  /  twitter  /  pinterest  /  tumblr  /  instagram x
