BLUE BOY JEANS

Image
Wanna know what I was actually up to here? Stood outside a bed shop buying a mattress. Ha. A glamorous blogging life would be nice, but 90% of the time it’s just me finding some random wall while I’m out running errands. Also, why are mattresses so expensive?! Not okay with being a grown up. What I’m wearing here felt appropriate for mooching about house shopping… It was slouchy Sunday after all. Generally, I wear the most relaxed item I can get away with on a Sunday – hence why I’m wearing the laziest looking boy jeans. I bloody love these, even though they’re old. They’re comfortable, and I’ve also got no idea what size they are. I can pretend they’re an 8 and I’m just tiiiiny and they’re hanging off me. LOL. Reality is they’re probably a 14 or something, but a girl can pretend! That jacket is also the oldie. I’ve already added a new leather jacket to my mental Christmas list as this one has definitely had it, but I do still like it in its own bashed up w...

CASUAL DRESSING | WEEKEND MONOCHROME

Image
When it comes to casual dressing, for me it’s a three-point thing. Flats, extra comfy bottoms and a slouchy bag to lug about all my crap in. On days off, this is exactly the kind of thing I go for. Something I can slob about in without feeling like a total scruff... I tend to go for monochrome to smarten things up a little, I just think it feels more like a put together version of comfy casuals!  Comfy Bottoms Leggings as trousers isn’t something I regularly sport out of the house (in the house it’s a different story – I live my life in leggings) but when it comes to those CBA days they’re my first choice, as long as they’re suitably suck-y in-y. I usually pair them with something that covers up my ass – I’m not quite brave enough to go all out with the leggings & crop top combo. That tends to mean a slouchy top, but as I had my rucksack here I thought I could get away with it. It's all about the comfort, both in not feeling like I'm wearing restricti...

SPRING LAYERING

Image
I think I’ve been wearing this knitted high neck way more than is acceptable for what’s the end of May. Having said that, it’s one of my favourite little layering piece. I love it for getting wear out of summery items that it’s not quite warm enough for. A knit like this is something I wear plenty right through from those colder months up until it’s properly (if ever!) warm. Here I’m just wearing it under this casual playsuit, one I had for last year’s holiday. This will probably make it along for this year’s jols too – it’s just what you need when you’ve overdone it tanning up. Ouchy. I think it is designed with the beach in mind, but I like it smartened up a bit with the knit. I’m definitely more of a legs out person than someone that can bear the upper arm chill – give me shorts and a thick jumper any day!   Sunglasses - CĂ©line / Jumper - Topshop / Bag - H&M / Playsuit - Forever 21 / Boots - ZARA SHOP THE LOOK youtube ...

GETTING BACK TO SMART CASUAL

Image
After months of loving lounge wear, I've turned a corner. As much as I like weekends spent in snuggly matching sets and trainers, I'd started to miss dressing up. Well, going for something a little smarter anyway - I'm never in anything thaaat fancy, but I'm a huge fan of smart/casual outfits. With a Bank Holiday breakfast trip on the cards, I had a good excuse to get back to feeling a tad glam.  When it comes to getting my daytime glam on, I usually start with fail-safe black trousers. They're slimming, I feel comfortable in them and they're an easy option for making up an outfit. My favourite pair are these pleather ones from H&M. They're now old and have seen better days, but they've seen me through many a smart/casual occasion. With black trousers usually come the black boots - I like something with a tiny bit of a heel for feeling like I'm 'put together' without being OTT. Again, the pair I'm wearing are long p...

CURRENT CASUAL ACCESSORY COMBINATIONS

Image
I spoke about these in my last post… Another recent addition for casual footwear. I was obsessed with creepers when they first did the rounds in 2012-ish, so it’s nice to see them carrying on in trainer format. While I’m loving these relaxed looks, when I’m wearing these trainers I usually pick out black accessories for the rest of my outfit - I just feel like that smartens things up. The skinny scarf is my absolute favourite right now for making outfits a bit ‘fancier’… even if I’m wearing a big baggy jumpsuit it still makes me feel more put together!  Currently, the adidas Superstars are the top choice in my shoedrobe. They just go with so many outfits, and could quite happily slot in with any of these casual combos. Mostly though, I love them with camel, as they just brighten things up compared with the black boots I’d normally opt for. Wearing them with this scarf is typical basic look as we head out of winter - I'll just chuck on black jeans and a black baggy tee...

THE BOOHOO ALL IN ONE

Image
Okay. I’m a little bit in love with these jumpsuits from Boohoo. I ended up getting both the grey and white, as I know they’re something I’ll wear more than I should. They’re just really comfy and one of my favourite no fuss options – I can just pop this on and that’s my outfit pretty much done. That’s what I love about jumpsuits… Just having one item that makes up an outfit is so much eeeeasier. Getting into your nuddy pants every time you need a wee – not so much. I’m wearing this one piece with the Rihanna X Puma wannabe trainers I got from Public Desire. I know, this sort of thing isn’t for everyone, but I was after a nude/tan pair that’d go with everything. These fit the bill, plus I don’t really mind too much that they’re basically a knock off – a good thing about living in the suburbs of Sheffield is that a load of folk have no idea what these trainers are imitating anyway. If I had been able to get hold of the originals I would have invested, ...

WEARING MATCHING TONES

Image
Okay, so actually more of a camel mis-match, but I'm still loving this sort of thing recently - wearing shades from a similar palette. I was going to go for my camel coat too, but as I’ve been wearing it far too much I went for the grey… It’s still one of my favourite colour combinations anyway. The leggings were an inexpensive newbie I added to my wardrobe last week. I just wanted something camel to wear on my bottom half as I’ve got loads of tops in that colour… These are just right for pairing up in matchy outfits! I’m always on the lookout for trousers/leggings that I can wear with my trainers too – I’m pretty much living in them on weekends! As much as I love all this layering up in natural tones, I am looking forward to bringing out some lighter colours for my spring/summer wardrobe. I’m thinking light denim & white t-shirts of every variety. Bliss! Faux Fur Collar - Claire's / Jumper - New Look / Coat - Primark / Leggings -...
