GETTING BACK TO SMART CASUAL

After months of loving lounge wear, I've turned a corner. As much as I like weekends spent in snuggly matching sets and trainers, I'd started to miss dressing up. Well, going for something a little smarter anyway - I'm never in anything thaaat fancy, but I'm a huge fan of smart/casual outfits. With a Bank Holiday breakfast trip on the cards, I had a good excuse to get back to feeling a tad glam.

When it comes to getting my daytime glam on, I usually start with fail-safe black trousers. They're slimming, I feel comfortable in them and they're an easy option for making up an outfit. My favourite pair are these pleather ones from H&M. They're now old and have seen better days, but they've seen me through many a smart/casual occasion. With black trousers usually come the black boots - I like something with a tiny bit of a heel for feeling like I'm 'put together' without being OTT. Again, the pair I'm wearing are long past their best, but they're my old favourites for days out.

Accessories wise I go for big 'am I an Olsen twin yet?' sunglasses and a similarly oversized handbag. It's one that I think works well with smart daytime outfits... Although the reality is less than swish - packed with hand sanitiser, emergency sweets and enough tampons for the whole of Sheffield. Life necessities.
