CASUAL DRESSING | WEEKEND MONOCHROME

Image
When it comes to casual dressing, for me it’s a three-point thing. Flats, extra comfy bottoms and a slouchy bag to lug about all my crap in. On days off, this is exactly the kind of thing I go for. Something I can slob about in without feeling like a total scruff... I tend to go for monochrome to smarten things up a little, I just think it feels more like a put together version of comfy casuals!  Comfy Bottoms Leggings as trousers isn’t something I regularly sport out of the house (in the house it’s a different story – I live my life in leggings) but when it comes to those CBA days they’re my first choice, as long as they’re suitably suck-y in-y. I usually pair them with something that covers up my ass – I’m not quite brave enough to go all out with the leggings & crop top combo. That tends to mean a slouchy top, but as I had my rucksack here I thought I could get away with it. It's all about the comfort, both in not feeling like I'm wearing restricti...

HALLOWEEN READY WITH NEW LOOK

Image
I completely love Halloween, so being able to do a spooky look with the latest New Look Pure Colour products was exciting . I’m always up for a chance to get dressed up – plus it’s a good excuse to play about with makeup. Every year deciding on what I’m dressing up as is a big deal... Although I usually end up going with some sultry vampire look or the failsafe black cat.   This time round I guess I’ve gone for a doll look – a bit of a creepier look with a fashion edge. It’s one that you can really keep quite simple if you’re not into the whole Halloween thing, or go to town with if you are… I think the more you exaggerate it the freakier it gets! Spikey, drawn on lashes with flushed cheeks and a pouty lip using the Matte Velvet Lipstick. The liquid lippies ( Pure Colour Matte Liquid Lipstick ) I loved – they’re super matte and smudge proof, so no worries about looking like the Joker by the end of the evening. I’ll be wearing these all year round! You can chec...

SMOKEY EYES TUTORIAL WITH NEW LOOK

Image
A couple of weekends ago I headed off to London to meet up with the New Look team and film some makeup looks ready for the season to come. I always find switching up your makeup for A/W can be a little tricky (it’s bit of a turn around from that bronzed look everyone’s been after over the summer..), so trying out some key trends was a great way to get back into it. Once I’ve got back to those vampy styles I remember just how much I love them.   This 'Grunge' look is now up on the New Look YouTube channel so you can check out how we created it here . The look is that real smokey eye that doesn’t look too put together. It’s got that rebellious sort of vibe without being too try hard – the kind of look you can quickly smudge on for a party. I used the New Look Pure Colour products, layering up those smokey metallic shades across the eyelid before adding a whole load of eyeliner. The Pure Colour Baked Eyeshadows are a dream to use for this sort of look, definitely one...

CUT OUTS

Image
Top - Topshop, Trousers - Charity Shop, Heels - New Look My Ma actually picked me this little top up.. She’s a good ‘un! I love how she can always get my style but also do that mamma thing where they sort of sway you into dressing more how they’d like..  Lol. I know she likes to see me in a few lighter colours but I’m happy for someone to drag me out of my boring black! Plus this baby blue is really pretty for this time of year.  I’m just wearing it with those charity shop high waisted trousers that I’ve worn relentlessly over the years. I’ve definitely got my money’s worth to say they were probably about £3. Really I should get back into hunting down some charity shop bargains.. I feel like there was a bit of a craze for it at one point that’s died down somewhat now. Does anyone else still go?! Inspire me to get myself to the local Red Cross please! youtube / bloglovin / twitter / facebook / pinterest / tumblr / instagram...

SHOULDER FLASH

Image
Top - USC , Bag - La Moda , Jeans - Primark, Heels - New Look Seen as I've been doing my girly bit (the odd skirt, braving heels etc.), I've ended going back to black jeans today. Easily done right? It probably wasn't my best idea seen as it's still ridiculously humid, but everyone needs a  quick and easy outfit.. In fact for me the majority of the time it's a quick and easy outfit. I was just wearing this to pop out for some food the other night. It wasn't anything fancy, but I decided I needed heels so I didn't feel too casual. Heels always have that sassy effect I think.. They just make me feel a  little bit more confident seen as I'm blessed with short legs. Providing I don't hit the deck in them. The jeans are just those ones from Primark that I stuck some rips in - I was going to buy some ready done but it seems a bit daft when it literally takes two minutes. On the shoulder flashing top front I'm in  another newbie from USC...

NEW: HEELS & NARS CULT PRODUCTS

Image
Heels - New Look , NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Honey) & Illuminator (Orgasm) I've been trying to reign in the spending a bit recently.. I don't know when I got into this whole 'I'm in my twenties, I work hard, I can buy whatever the hell I like' notion but it needs to stop before I end up living on crisp sandwiches for the rest of eternity.  I did have reason to buy a couple of newbies though. I was heading on a night out and some of you may have also seen on Twitter/Instagram that I've just got a new job! All very exciting. I feel like I've been a bit absent from blogging recently with all this life stuff going off, but I'm hoping this new job will make blogging life a lot easier. I'll probably update you all on YouTube about goings on with me at some point.. It's not that exciting but there are a few new things I can mention! Anyway, new job = new heels & makeup required. I feel like it's justified. I'd been...

ALL WHITE

Image
Sunglasses - New Look, Jacket - New Look, Top - Primark, Jeans - Topshop, Boots - Forever 21, Bag - Paul's Boutique Alright, so not completely all white. A little bit of grey & black thrown in there too, along with those chunky New Look sunglasses that I've been harping on about. My ma took these pictures this weekend, just after I got back from Barcelona.. I had this vision that I was going to look like some cool, tanned European chick, but it didn't translate. Boo. I did manage to catch quite a bit of sun though while I was there, hence the white.. Definitely felt a lot more bronzed up whilst wandering round Barcelona, opposed to Sheffield. It's not that I mind being pale, I'm just a bit over it now and ready to feel a tad more summery. I did sling on that New Look jacket as it was a little bit nippy. It's pretty old now, but I always feel it's handy to cling onto for those days when I'm venturing out of my traditional black. Plus ...

NEW IN: SUNNIES & PINK LIPS

Image
Sunglasses - New Look , Top - Forever 21, Lips - MAC Please me Some of you may have already seen these  sungigs over on my Instagram the other day. I bought them last weekend after being on the hunt for that reflective style in a frame that actually looked okay on my face. As soon as I saw these I knew I'd be getting them.. Plus, New Look sunnies are always super cheap which is perfect when you're after that sort of 'trend focused' thing! Even though they're quite chunky, I think the pink in them keeps them quite girly. I haven't managed to find the black version online (not sure if they've sold out - worth checking in store!), but the tortoiseshell frames are still on there.. I'm definitely going to pop back to New Look and get them for my jols! On the pink lips front I've updated my MAC lipstick collection with a fresh 'Please Me'. It's one that I've used a lot in the past (more dabbed on for an extra bit of pink), but...

BOOTS & A MAXI SKIRT

Image
Top - New Look , Coat - H&M, Skirt - H&M, Boots - c/o Dorothy Perkins I'm writing this after another snow day, thinking this outfit would now be totally inappropriate. When I took these pictures it was much warmer (well, as 'warmer' as it ever gets at this time of year), so I could just about brave flashing a bit of leg. I know everyone's mad for the over the knee boots at the minute, but I'm yet to give in and buy a pair. I do love them.. I just can't justify another pair of boots. I'm pretty sure if I fetch anymore shoes home my ma will be packing my bags for me. Ha. The Dotty P boots I've got on are more like a 'knee skimmer', rather than their longer thigh high cousins. My favourite fit for wearing with long skirts and dresses.. Makes a change from vacuum packing yourself in tights. I think I'll do a proper post on these sometime soon. These snaps were just ones I took on my new camera whilst faffing around with the...

NEW IN: CAMERA, BASICS & BEAUTY

Image
Samsung NX Mini - John Lewis (gotta get that 2 year guarantee ha), Rust Top - New Look , Shirt Dress - New Look , Elegant Touch Stiletto Nails, Barry M Nail Varnish, Leather Case - Accessorize, Bag - c/o La Moda (this is old.. it just looked cute with the New Look stuff ha) Thought I'd do a quick round up on some newbies in my life. I had a bit of Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket (could have gone on petrol, food, general life necessities but meeeh.. everyone needs a treat every now and then right?!), so decided to put it towards something more substantial rather than loads of bits of crap. Hence the camera. I didn't really need another camera, but I do love all this photography stuff (despite not being that good at it) and I thought it'd be handy.. I love my DSLR but it's just a bit clunky to lug around. I'm so glad I got this one. I was going to get the NX3000 but decided with its lens size there wouldn't actually be much differenc...
