Fashion Influx

This weekend has involved a lot of basics - clothing and lifestyle wise. I've spent most of it doing life admin, which is probably why my weekend looks have been pretty simple. On a casual day, black jeans, black boots and a simple t-shirt is enough for me. It's my favourite sort of daytime look and one that doesn't involve a huge amount of effort. In between all the grown up, adulty things I've had to get through, I did manage to film some 'get ready routine' clips. On a day to day basis I do keep things same-y, but I had a couple of new clothing bits I fancied dressing up in. The jeans and belt combo is probably something I'm going to wear to death this summer, so be prepared for seeing both a lot. Loving everything high waisted forever. After months of loving lounge wear, I've turned a corner. As much as I like weekends spent in snuggly matching sets and trainers, I'd started to miss dressing up. Well, going for something a little smarter anyway - I'm never in anything thaaat fancy, but I'm a huge fan of smart/casual outfits. With a Bank Holiday breakfast trip on the cards, I had a good excuse to get back to feeling a tad glam.  When it comes to getting my daytime glam on, I usually start with fail-safe black trousers. They're slimming, I feel comfortable in them and they're an easy option for making up an outfit. My favourite pair are these pleather ones from H&M. They're now old and have seen better days, but they've seen me through many a smart/casual occasion. I’ll be wearing these dungarees until I can no longer fit in them, and at the rate I’m eating peanut butter, that could be soon. I’ve worn these on my blog repeatedly over the years, but they’re still an item I like. I’m a clothes hoarder, and if you read my blog regularly chances are you’re going to come on here and see something you’ve seen before. I’ve been wearing them most for work recently, as they’re a really easy option that don’t make me feel frumpy. Yeah, loads of days I just wear black trousers and a jumper, but sometimes that does feel a bit dull. Here I just wore them with my favourite shirt – it’s just a really oversized one from ZARA that I’ve worn relentlessly, for work and days off. I spoke about these in my last post… Another recent addition for casual footwear. I was obsessed with creepers when they first did the rounds in 2012-ish, so it’s nice to see them carrying on in trainer format. While I’m loving these relaxed looks, when I’m wearing these trainers I usually pick out black accessories for the rest of my outfit - I just feel like that smartens things up. The skinny scarf is my absolute favourite right now for making outfits a bit ‘fancier’… even if I’m wearing a big baggy jumpsuit it still makes me feel more put together!  Currently, the adidas Superstars are the top choice in my shoedrobe. They just go with so many outfits, and could quite happily slot in with any of these casual combos. Mostly though, I love them with camel, as they just brighten things up compared with the black boots I’d normally opt for. Jumper - Boohoo / Trousers - H&M / Bag - H&M / Heels - Dorothy Perkins Smart casual is my favourite sort of look. I love that with an outfit like this, I can swap my heels for trainers and be all set with a more relaxed look. To be honest, I would normally go for the trainers as they're comfy, but I do like an opportunity to stick a pair of heels on - even if my toes don't.  Here I was just off for some lunch, mainly looking for an outfit where I could wear this new Boohoo jumper. I've seen this ribbed sweat in a few Instagram posts - I think it's one of those pieces that looks way more expensive than it actually is! I know I'll be wearing it loads as it's a good match for my monochrome looking wardrobe. There's also a black version  that I'm tempted to order... Payday needs to hurry itself up!
