Welcome to me sharing the joys of oily skin. If you’re prone to an oil slick complexion like me, you’re going to know that it can be a complete pain in the ass… Imagine a world where your foundation hasn’t slid off your face by 12pm?! Recently, I’ve got very stomp-y footed about oily skin problems. I’ve just about got my acne under control, but was still plagued with a T-Zone that hates me. Admittedly, I wasn’t being very good to my skin – there’s nothing like waking up with Saturday night’s makeup on to realise you’re a mess. Lol. While I do still have my blips, I have managed to force myself into some sort of routine, specifically targeting oily issues. Buying a few new products definitely helped – kind of like when you buy new gym clothes to motivate yourself into facing the cross trainer. Following contouring and strobing, everyone’s now got a thing for colour correcting. I could have got that in the wrong order of ‘what’s hot’, but I think it’s similarly up there on the makeup stakes. As a sucker for the latest craze, colour correcting has quickly become part of my daily routine… It’s not like I really go to town with it, but I’ve now got a few products for working on complexion issues.   Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Balm  To crack on with this colour correcting biz, I usually start out with a brightening skincare product, something I can substitute for moisturiser or mix with it. I’d been wanting to try out one of these cleansing balm thingymabobbies for ages, but as a creature of habit, I hadn’t got round to updating my skincare routine. When I heard about the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm through the Debenhams Beauty Club I was super keen to give it a go – it’s an award winner designed for a deep cleanse, so my baby soft skin expectations were high. I’ve had a few Elemis bits from Debenhams before, but never tried out any of their cleansers... As a loyal user of hot cloth options, I just hadn’t got round to trying something new. The product is a similar concept – you apply it all-over before wiping it off with the Elemis cloth that comes with the product. Compared with cream products I’ve used, the balm has a real luxurious feel. I love how it melts into the skin, easily removing even the thickest layers of mascara, yet still feeling gentle. I can get into a bit of a makeup rut over winter. It’s all heavy foundation to cover sallow looking skin and darker colours that I start to feel are washing me out. For the last few weeks I’ve been going for lighter options, looking for a fresher finish for Spring. These are the products that I’ve been loving for getting that dewy, light finish ready for the warmer months ahead. Shiseido Makeup Refresher This stuff is lovely. The sort of thing you spray and think ‘I don’t exactly know what it does but it feels nice’. For me, it just brightens everything up after I’ve packed on a bit too much powder, or ended up with the dreaded cake face. Transitioning makeup ready for warmer temperatures can be a tricky one, and this not only freshens my face up, but also gets rid of any icky patches. I flipping love a good beauty tip. Whether it's how to get brows that actually look like they belong to each other, or the best way to shave your legs without morphing into an extra from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I want to know it all. I've definitely spent too much of my life watching beauty hack videos, which has helped with compiling this little list, but I've also picked up a few just through general trial and error. These are all my favourites - the ones that actually made me think 'why have I not been doing this all my life?'.  1. Apply hair products to both sides of your hair. This sounds really stupid, but it's one I realised through using too much toner on my hair. Admittedly. I don’t actually use that many drugstore products. I’m a complete sucker for packaging, and regularly end up purchasing the high-end stuff because it looks freaking amazing on my dresser. I know, it’s really bad. Having said that, I have got a few products that I regularly head into Boots to stock up on – I’d rather have a few that I’ve realized I religiously love, rather than a whole load of stuff I’ll never use. When it comes to what’s on my repurchase list, these are the items I’m always heading back for! Garnier Micellar Water / Garnier Moisturiser / Carmex / Garnier Eye Cream   Although I tend to lean towards high-end makeup (much to the disapproval of my bank balance), I pretty much only use drugstore skincare.
